General Summary
The Director of Radiation Therapy (Photon Treatment), provides comprehensive leadership and oversight for AMC based photon treatment delivery activities, including all treatment operations performed on linear accelerators, intra-operative and the on-call service, within the MGB Academic Medical Centers’ Department of Radiation Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Boston campus and Brigham and Women’s Hospital Boston Campus.
The Director is directly responsible for supporting, mentoring, and supervising a leadership team, with direct oversight of Radiation Therapy Managers and indirect oversight of RTT Team Leads and the broader radiation therapy group. This role ensures that all team members perform at the highest levels of clinical and technical competence and that operational workflows are safe, efficient, and patient-centered. In addition, the Director oversees Practice Manager(s), providing strategic direction, mentorship, and support based on a deep understanding of physician workflows, patient needs, and departmental goals.
Serving as both a technical and clinical expert, the Radiation Therapy Director collaborates closely with physician, nurse, APP, physics, dosimetry, and administrative leaders to support high-quality treatment delivery, implement new technologies, enhance unit efficiency, and ensure full compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulatory standards. The incumbent is a key participant in departmental integration efforts, quality and safety initiatives and actively contributes to multidisciplinary projects aimed at advancing patient care, reducing risk, and promoting continuous improvement.
The Director of Radiation Therapy reports to the Senior Director of Clinical Operations and plays a critical role in shaping the future of Radiation Oncology services throughout Mass General Brigham.

Active Radiation Therapist MA State License - RT(T)
Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Experience
Minimum 6 years radiation therapy experience with 2-3 of those years in management or leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively deal with patients and/or medical staff in sensitive and stressful situations.
- Ability to effectively orient, train and serve as a resource for radiation therapists and administrator support staff.
- Effectively stays calm in challenging situations.
- Possession of analytical decision-making skills necessary to quickly assess and resolve complex logistical, technical and patient care problems.
- Strong Leadership background.
- Ability to train, motivate and supervise direct reports.
