Reporting to the Superintendent of Student Supports, the Director of Professional Student Support Services provides operational leadership for multidisciplinary professional services within the Student Supports Department. The Director supervises and supports professional staff in disciplines including psychology, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and social work, while also leading the planning, coordination, and implementation of system-level initiatives within the Student Supports portfolio.
This role leads the ongoing review, refinement, implementation, and continuous improvement of service delivery models that support a continuum of student needs within a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and needs-based framework, building on existing structures and practices. Working collaboratively with Student Support Consultants and other members of the Student Supports team, the Director plays a key role in leading the planning, coordination, and implementation of system-level initiatives, including the ongoing strengthening of service delivery models, systems structures, and priority initiatives.
The Director is accountable for supervising professional staff and ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of professional student support services. This role does not coordinate student-specific programming or Inclusion and Intervention Plans (IIPs), but ensures that the systems, structures, and professional practices are in place to support effective multidisciplinary involvement.
This role balances operational leadership with system development and project implementation responsibilities.

  • Supports planning, allocation, and monitoring of resources related to professional services, ensuring effective and sustainable use of staff, tools, and supports.
  • Leads the review, refinement, and ongoing development of systems and tools that support professional documentation, service tracking, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Establishes and monitors structures that support accountability, including documentation practices, service tracking, and reporting processes to inform decision-making.
  • Provides regular updates, analysis, and recommendations to the Superintendent regarding service delivery, system effectiveness, and emerging needs.
  • Works collaboratively with Student Support Consultants and other system leaders to ensure alignment between student identification processes, service delivery, and system capacity.
  • Provides consultation and guidance in complex or ambiguous situations where service pathways, roles, or decisions require clarification.
  • Identifies risks, challenges, and pressures within service delivery and develops strategies to address them proactively.
  • Contributes to broader organizational planning, cross-departmental initiatives, and system-level decision-making as part of the leadership team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Student Supports.
