Purpose
Gränges is today purchasing various non-metal supply for our three production units in the US, (Huntingdon, Salisbury, and Newport). The Director of Indirect Procurement leads all sourcing, procurement, and supplier management activities for indirect spend across a three-plant aluminum rolling operation. This role is responsible for ensuring cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and operational support for all non-raw material categories, including MRO, capital equipment, services, logistics, and corporate spend.
The Director will lead and develop a team, partner closely with plant and functional leadership, and drive procurement excellence through standardization, strategic sourcing, and supplier performance management.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Cost Leadership
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across all indirect spend categories
- Lead competitive sourcing events (RFPs/RFQs) and negotiate contracts
- Deliver measurable cost savings, cost avoidance, and value creation
- Build multi-year category strategies aligned with business priorities
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of procurement professionals
- Set clear goals, KPIs, and accountability across the team
- Drive consistency in procurement capabilities and execution across plants
Plant Partnership & Operational Support
- Serve as a key partner to plant leadership (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering)
- Ensure procurement supports plant uptime, outages, and capital projects
- Balance cost optimization with operational reliability and speed
Supplier Management
- Establish and manage preferred supplier relationships
- Implement supplier performance management (quality, delivery, cost, service)
- Reduce supplier fragmentation and improve leverage across sites
Process & Systems
- Standardize procurement processes and policies across all locations
- Drive adoption of ERP and procurement tools
- Improve contract coverage, compliance, and visibility to spend
Working Capital & Risk Management
- Improve payment terms, inventory strategies, and total cost of ownership
- Ensure continuity of supply for critical categories
- Identify and mitigate supply and market risks
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering preferred)
- MBA or professional certification (CPSM, CIPS) is a plus
- 10+ years of procurement or sourcing experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience managing indirect spend categories (MRO, capex, services)
- Demonstrated track record of delivering cost savings and supplier improvements
- Experience supporting multi-site operations preferred
- Strong negotiation and commercial acumen
- Ability to operate effectively in plant environments
- Data-driven with strong financial understanding
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Strong cross-functional communication and influence
- Ability to travel national required
