Job Description
A well-established Produce Importer/Distributor is searching for a Director of Procurement specializing in Asparagus and other imports to join their team in South Florida.
The Director of Procurement must collaborate effectively, internally and with suppliers and growers. Other responsibilities include developing effective negotiation strategies to enable success; and managing market complexity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Employ strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors and market dynamics.
- Effectively develop and lead complex sourcing strategies and manage growers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance.
- Consistently deliver measurable and strategic goals to enable bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership.
- Develop effective negotiation strategies to enable success.
- Leverage effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers, industry players, and farms.
- Proficiently employ programs and project management tools and techniques.
- Independently solve problems and make decisions for strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and with a ‘hands on’ execution role.
- Effectively motivate and collaborate within the team. Sales & Warehouse.
- Ensure consistent and adequate follow-up with President on a regular basis.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration preferred or related field or equivalent experience and education.
- Minimum 6-10 years analytical, planning, procurement, supply chain or other relevant experience.
- Procurement experience in Peru and Mexico required.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent knowledge of market analysis, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management and negotiations, supplier continuous improvement programs & grower relationships.
- Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices.
- Ability to travel to Peru and Mexico.
- Bi-lingual English / Spanish required.
