POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Primary Care Service Line is a senior operational leader responsible for the overall performance, leadership, growth, and operational success of Hattiesburg Clinic’s primary care practices within the Jackson market. The service line includes Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Pediatric practices operating across multiple locations. The Director provides leadership and oversight for the entire service line and is accountable for ensuring that each practice operates effectively, efficiently, and consistently with the mission, strategic priorities, policies, and operational expectations of Hattiesburg Clinic. The Director serves as the primary administrative leader for the service line and works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, practice managers, administrative leadership, and centralized support departments. The Director provides direct leadership and accountability to practice managers and ensures that managers have the resources, expectations, training, and support necessary to successfully operate their respective practices. This position has responsibility for the overall practice, not simply individual operational functions. This includes oversight of practice operations, management performance, provider and staff scheduling, patient access, staffing, financial performance, budgets, productivity, quality, patient experience, regulatory compliance, education and training, physician and APP onboarding, practice growth, and operational improvement. The Director is expected to maintain a strong presence within the practices, understand the day-to-day operations of each location, recognize operational and financial concerns early, and proactively develop solutions in collaboration with physicians, managers, and executive leadership. The Director promotes a culture of accountability, professionalism, collaboration, service, and continuous improvement while ensuring that each practice provides high-quality, patient-centered care in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, finance, or a related field, required
• Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field, preferred
• FACMPE, CPA, or other applicable professional certification, preferred
• Significant progressive healthcare management experience required, preferably within a multi-site physician practice or medical group, preferred
• Demonstrated experience managing managers and leading multiple clinical locations or departments, strongly preferred
• Experience with physician practice operations, financial management, budgeting, staffing, productivity, and performance improvement, required
• Experience working collaboratively with physicians and advanced practice providers, required
• Knowledge of ambulatory healthcare operations, reimbursement, regulatory requirements, and value-based care, preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead both managers and teams across multiple locations
• Demonstrated ability to develop managers rather than personally performing responsibilities that appropriately belong at the practice-manager level
• Strong physician-relations skills and the ability to establish credibility with physicians and advanced practice providers
• Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to interpret practice financial statements, budgets, productivity reports, staffing data, and operational metrics
• Comprehensive understanding of physician-practice operations
• Strong working knowledge of Epic, including the ability to navigate and utilize applicable modules, reporting tools, dashboards, and workflows supporting ambulatory practice operations
• Ability to identify problems, determine root causes, develop solutions, and ensure completion of corrective actions
• Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities
• Ability to appropriately manage competing priorities across multiple practices and locations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to have difficult conversations professionally and constructively
• Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations
• High degree of initiative, accountability, organization, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate communication with executive leadership
