This role provides overall ownership of Operational Technology (OT) and SCADA systems supporting renewable energy assets across the U.S., ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. It leads the design and evolution of OT architecture, including network systems, cybersecurity, cloud connectivity, and integration with corporate IT, while managing the IT/OT boundary and ensuring compliance with standards such as NERC-CIP. The position also supports plant commissioning, oversees network performance, and drives continuous improvement through monitoring, documentation, and implementation of policies and disaster recovery plans.

As a technical leader, the role manages and develops OT and SCADA teams, fostering collaboration across engineering, operations, IT, and cybersecurity functions. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in OT networks, industrial control systems, and renewable energy environments, along with strong expertise in enterprise networking, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and SCADA technologies, backed by proven leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall ownership of OT & Control systems for renewable energy assets in the US, including SCADA systems, ROCC infrastructure and OT network infrastructure.
  • Define, lead, and evolve the OT architecture and standards, covering network design, cybersecurity, SCADA communications, cloud connectivity, and integration with corporate IT systems.
  • Design, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve the OT network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, monitoring systems, and secure remote access solutions, supporting both centralized ROCC and geographically distributed power plants.
  • Ensure cybersecurity and regulatory compliance of OT environments, with specific responsibility for NERC-CIP requirements applicable to SCADA and critical infrastructure in the US utility sector.
  • Lead and develop OT and SCADA teams, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and training, while fostering strong collaboration with Engineering & Construction, Operations & Maintenance, IT, Cybersecurity, and external partners.
  • Own the IT/OT boundary, defining secure architectures, segmentation models, and connectivity principles that balance operational reliability, cybersecurity, and business needs.
  • Support commissioning activities, including FAT/SAT, plant onboarding, and integration into ROCC, ensuring alignment with OT standards and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain OT and Scada documentation, including architecture, network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Implement and maintain OT policies, procedures, and frameworks, including network usage, access control, backup, and business continuity.
  • Monitor OT network performance, analyze trends, identify risks, and provide reporting and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with corporate IT and Cybersecurity teams to align OT solutions with enterprise strategies, while preserving OT-specific requirements and constraints.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be authorized to work for any US employer,without the need for work visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in OT, network engineering, and industrial control system environments, including technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Verifiable experience in renewable energy assets, including utility-scale wind and/or solar plants.
  • Proven knowledge of network and OT communication protocols, architectures, and technologies, such as TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPNs, and SD-WAN.

Demonstrated experience with:

  • Enterprise routing, switching, wireless, and monitoring technologies, e.g. Cisco/Meraki/Juniper/Aruba.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining SSL/IPsec VPN technologies.
  • AWS/Azure/GCP as well as cloud networking technologies.
  • Virtualization/VMWare knowledge and integration into OT environments.
  • Designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA networks
  • Managing and integrating Active Directory environments within OT infrastructures.
  • Industry certificates such as: CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, Fortinet FCP and Palo Alto PCCSE are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, particularly in the context of critical infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP standards.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and act as technical authority in complex OT environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bi-Lingual – English/Spanish preferred
