The Director of Operations Electric Transmission Texas (ETT) is responsible for the Operations of ETT assets which include capital project development through construction of assets and the operations, maintenance and compliance of the assets once placed into service. ETT has approximately $4.2 Billion in total investment of assets in service and under construction.

The Director of Operations ETT is responsible for managing transmission business activities including: project development, managing integration of joint venture's projects, annual business plans strategic recommendations, business tactics, operational and financial improvement and general management and implementation of contractual commitments of the AEP transmission joint venture. The overall purpose of this position is to enhance shareholder value through implementing processes, coordinating multi-disciplinary groups (i.e., transmission planning, engineering, design, construction, operations, maintenance, safety, regulatory compliance, accounting, finance, cash management) in meeting joint venture requirements and goals.

What you'll do:

  • Actively engage and coordinate resources to complete joint venture contractual requirements, operational reporting, analysis, and fundamentals.
  • A very important component of this work stream is to coordinate with all of AEP's shared services groups providing services to the joint venture.
  • Facilitate communication and issue resolution between AEP's corporate departments, external contractors, partners, and multiple transmission project groups.
  • Assist in strategic planning/screening on appropriate projects for joint ventures.
  • Develop projects, plans and programs to improve operation and budgets of the joint venture's assets
  • Take budget variances provided by ETT Finance Department and coordinate with project partners, project managers, and internal corporate departments on developing plans to fix and/or mitigate reasons for variances.
  • Oversee operating performance of the joint venture assets.
  • Coordinate work processes under the service agreements of the Joint Venture and ensure work processes are being accomplished (i.e., technical, budgeting and other compliance work streams).
  • Consults and advises with key joint venture partner's representatives regarding all operational, financial and regulatory matters.
  • Work with key officers of other companies to develop new project interconnections for ETT.
  • Be the public face of ETT in the negotiation and award of projects at ERCOT/with clients
  • Present to ERCOT, PUCT and other outside entities operational information and risk mitigation to meet regulatory inquiries.
  • Be the face of ETT for public responses to operational and business development issues.
  • Act as public face of ETT Compliance issues and working with TRE as Executive oversight of the ETT compliance program as required by TRE.
  • Prepare and address regulators, legal teams and others in public hearings.

What we’re looking for:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred PE preferred.
  • PMP preferred Experience with contract implementation and spreadsheet design required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of electric utility or related power experience in operations, asset management and development, marketing, and financial analysis.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be proficient using presentation software such as PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of transmission markets a plus.
  • Perceptive market evaluation and project commercialization skills desired.
