Job Description

Director of Operations

Growing Medical Manufacturing Company

Twin Resources is partnering with a growing medical manufacturing company seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and optimize day-to-day manufacturing operations while helping drive the company's continued growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an operationally focused professional who understands Lean Manufacturing, develops strong teams, and knows how to move between the executive level and the manufacturing floor. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing strategy with senior leadership and working directly with supervisors and production employees to solve problems and improve processes.

The Director of Operations will have overall responsibility for manufacturing operations, production performance, process improvement, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. This leader will establish accountability, develop people, eliminate waste, and implement sustainable processes that support increased capacity and continued growth.

Lean Manufacturing experience is critical. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience implementing Lean principles, including 5S, Kaizen, continuous improvement, standard work, visual management, root-cause analysis, and waste reduction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily manufacturing operations and ensure production goals, quality standards, delivery requirements, and safety expectations are met.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support company growth and increased production capacity.
  • Drive a culture of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Lead and facilitate 5S, Kaizen events, process improvement initiatives, and waste-reduction projects
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, delivery, efficiency, and cost.
  • Develop, coach, and hold supervisors and managers accountable for performance and results.
  • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other departments to resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable medical manufacturing quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Support capacity planning, equipment requirements, staffing strategies, and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze operational data and use it to drive informed business decisions.
  • Develop and standardize processes as the organization grows.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts using structured methodologies such as root-cause analysis, corrective action, and continuous improvement tools
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization—from executive leadership to employees on the manufacturing floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Significant leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably medical device, medical products, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing operations through a period of growth and organizational change
  • Strong hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated success improving productivity, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Strong leadership and people-development skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience developing and managing operational KPIs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Must be a visible, approachable leader who is comfortable spending time on the manufacturing floor.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and manufacturing controls; medical manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a builder and a leader—someone who can walk into a growing operation, understand what is working and what isn't, establish structure and accountability, and create processes that allow the organization to scale.

They must be comfortable communicating high and low presenting operational performance, strategy, and recommendations to senior leadership while also communicating expectations, coaching employees, and solving problems directly on the floor.

This is an opportunity for an operations leader who wants to have a direct impact on the growth, culture, and operational success of a growing medical manufacturing company.
