& Position Summary

This role provides strategic leadership and direction for operational performance across a multi-site homebuilding division. The position oversees the development and execution of short-term operational plans that drive efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. It partners closely with cross-functional leaders to optimize processes, ensure compliance with company standards, and improve division-wide outcomes. The role ensures teams have the support, structure, and resources needed to deliver consistent results.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead operational strategies that support division goals in quality, safety, schedule performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the execution of core processes across construction, purchasing, trade management, warranty, and customer experience functions.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying performance gaps, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and monitoring progress against KPIs.
  • Partner with senior leadership to allocate resources, forecast workload, and support business growth objectives.
  • Establish and manage departmental budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets and operational priorities.
  • Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of experienced operational professionals to support high performance and talent growth.
  • Evaluate risks and operational challenges across multiple sub-functions and implement solutions that improve consistency and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners, external vendors, and trade partners to support operational stability.

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant operational experience in homebuilding, residential construction, or a related industry.
  • Experience leading teams and managing multi-functional operations.

Preferred:

  • 10–12 years of progressive leadership experience in homebuilding operations or large-scale construction environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated success managing experienced teams.
  • Broad operational knowledge spanning construction workflows, scheduling, quality control, and trade management.
  • Strategic planning skills with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable initiatives.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills to address moderately complex operational challenges.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and evaluating operational cost drivers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for influencing leaders across multiple sub-functions.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and lead change across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency with construction management systems, workflow software, and operational reporting tools.
  • Strong customer-focused mindset with an emphasis on service quality and delivery.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a general office environment with routine visits to field or construction sites as needed. Site visits may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, noise, dust, and other typical construction-related elements. Travel to job sites, vendor locations, and company meetings is required based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods when working in an office environment.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active construction sites as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally for carrying documents, plans, or small equipment.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to safely climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and use personal protective equipment during site visits.
