CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Global Manager of Occupational Health to help lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide occupational health strategies across global operations. Support advancement of the EHS Management System by promoting best-practice sharing, risk reduction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in occupational health and medicine. Bring deep technical expertise and collaborative leadership to support global health initiatives that protect employees, enhance operational performance, and align with corporate objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior EHS leadership, championing a proactive health culture and ensuring consistent integration of occupational health best practices across all divisions and regions.

(1) Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop & support the implementation of global occupational health strategies to align with corporate EHS Management Systems, and business objectives.
  • Establish global standards, procedures and technical references for occupational health, medicine, and industrial hygiene to reduce risk and enhance performance across all divisions.
  • Ensure occupational health programs align with organizational goals and business priorities.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and insights to EHS leadership to support decision-making when reviewing critical risks and occupational health trends Support the compliant collection and management of confidential medical records, exposure monitoring, and required medical surveillance programs while providing strategic medical management guidance to corporate and group HR and operations leaders.
  • Engage company-employed medical professionals across the global supply chain through regular communication and ensuring consistency with strategic guidance.

(2) Occupational Health Programs & Medical Oversight:

  • Provide oversight into medical surveillance, exposure monitoring, and fitness-for-duty programs in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support company-employed and contracted medical professionals worldwide to ensure alignment with established standards.
  • Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and quality of employee medical records and health data.
  • Guide clinical decision-making related to workplace health risks, accommodations, and return-to-work processes.

(3) Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with global, regional, and local occupational health regulations (e.g., OSHA, EU directives, country-specific laws).
  • Assess and mitigate occupational health risks including chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial hazards.
  • Review serious incident investigations and health-related events; translate findings into preventive actions.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory engagements related to occupational health.

(4) Data, Reporting & Performance Management:

  • Monitor global occupational health trends, metrics, and outcomes.
  • Analyze data to identify emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Report on occupational health performance to senior leadership and corporate governance bodies.

(5) Customer & Stakeholder Support:

  • Provide medical and industrial hygiene support to corporate and group HR business partners.
  • Deliver medical and industrial hygiene consultation to customers, including educational seminars to support safe product use and sales growth.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding the safe handling and use of company products.
  • Develop and oversee product stewardship programs to ensure regulatory compliance and safe product use globally.
  • Manage the annual Ergonomic Intervention Award program.

This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113, USA IL Chicago Office 8725 W Higgins Rd. Chicago IL 60631, USA MN Minneapolis Campus 1101 South 3rd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, or a closely related field.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in safety and health management or a related EHS discipline, preferably within a global operational context.
  • 5+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable domestic and international occupational health regulations (e.g., OSHA, NIOSH, WHO, ILO, EU), with the ability to interpret and apply complex requirements to global operations.
  • Sampling & Monitoring Expertise in conducting personal and area air sampling using NIOSH/OSHA/ASTM methods; operating direct‑reading instruments (PID, FID, MIRAN, Draeger, multi‑gas monitors); performing noise dosimetry and sound level surveys; assessing heat stress through WBGT and metabolic load evaluations; and executing ventilation testing including capture velocity, static pressure, and smoke studies.
  • EHS Analytics & Systems Proficient in using EHS performance measurement systems, safety analytics, and data visualization tools to monitor trends, identify improvement opportunities, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Regulatory Expertise Deep understanding of federal, state, local, and international occupational health regulations (e.g., OSHA, NIOSH, WHO, ILO, EU,), with the ability to interpret and apply complex requirements to global operations.
  • Health Surveillance and Medical Monitoring expertise encompassing the design and oversight of programs such as audiometry, respiratory protection, and biomonitoring; interpretation of occupational medical data trends through close collaboration with occupational health providers; and adherence to confidentiality, HIPAA‑adjacent requirements, and ethical data handling practices.
  • Compliance & Risk Management Experienced in negotiating with regulatory agencies to resolve issues and minimize disruptions.
  • Communication & Engagement Exceptional ability to translate technical and regulatory information into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences, including executive leadership, employees, and external stakeholders.
  • Project & Program Management Experienced in overseeing and coordinating multiple concurrent projects across departments, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and timely execution.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree (MS) in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, or a closely related field (preferred).
  • Holds professional credentials such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and Chartered Occupational Hygienist (COH) Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) (preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in safety and health management,
  • 10+ years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • IT Enterprise Solution and Business Intelligence Proficient in utilizing IH software systems such as Benchmark Gensuite, as well as advanced capabilities in Excel (advanced formulas and PivotTables), data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau, and a valued working knowledge of R or Python for enhanced data analysis.
