Salary: $105,050-$132,770 annual salary (dependent upon experience)

Auburn Homes and Services of Chaska, an Illuminus Community, offers assisted living, memory support, and short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care to older adults. Auburn Homes and Services has provided care in Carver County since 1928, and strives to empower residents to live with purpose and passion. This position is specifically for our Skilled Nursing Facility.

The Director of Nursing (DON) is a licensed registered nurse (RN) with the following responsibilities: develops, organizes and maintains a standard of nursing practice that is compliant with entity’s objectives and state and federal regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead nursing services to support resident-centered care, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership, manage staffing challenges, and maintain clear, consistent expectations.
  • Lead through change, communicate expectations clearly, and help staff adopt new processes.
  • Build staff trust, listen to concerns, resolve conflict, and address resistance constructively.
  • Supervise, train, and develop nursing staff; address performance concerns directly and respectfully.
  • Assign nursing duties based on staff qualifications, experience, and licensure.
  • Oversee nursing practices, policies, infection prevention and control, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on resident assessments, care planning, and pre-admission screening.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and supplies while managing nursing operations within budget.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities and implement practical improvements to care and daily operations.
  • Exercise sound judgment, make timely decisions, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Protect resident and employee confidentiality, follow safety procedures, and model the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide on-call coverage and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of nursing management experience, including staff supervision and accountability.
  • A current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Working knowledge of Minnesota and federal nursing facility regulations, with the ability to guide compliance and survey readiness.
