Job Summary:
Holy Angels is looking for a RN- Director of Nursing for the day shift, but must be flexible to work other shifts, field calls and respond to critical incidents call after hours and on weekends based on nursing and resident needs. This position is responsible for managing the activities of the Nursing Department, including managing the LPN’s, scheduling, working in the ratio as a floor nurse when needed, and managing daily/monthly and quarterly paperwork.
Specific Skills and Responsibilities


  • Support and coordinate the activities nursing staff on all shifts
  • Coordinates admissions and discharges to and from hospital and other long term care settings.
  • Available to support families and to accompany and or visit residents when hospitalized and for critical issues
  • Employee Health Nurse
  • Oversees and manages medication administrations and management
  • Demonstrates excellence in bedside assessments
  • Train LPN’s and Direct Care staff in bedside assessments
  • Work as a Floor Nurse as needed
  • Facilitate annual review process of resident charts
  • Coordinate Medical Packets per State guidelines for each resident as necessary and annually
  • Track Quality Indicators
  • Enters and tracks the timely submission of resident related paperwork
  • Promotes teamwork on a daily basis by encouraging communication and reporting problems and concerns to the Sr. Director of Habilitation and CEO
  • Administers medication and treatment to residents following Holy Angels’ standards of excellence and protocols
  • Measures, records, and monitors vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
  • Documentation should exemplify excellence: detail, accurate, and timely
  • Develop and Lead a Skills Fair for LPN’s and CMA’s
  • Will receive certification as state approved instructor for Certified Medication Administration Assist Training and will develop
  • Manage and Teach Certified Medication Administration (CMA) training
Qualifications:
  • Must maintain a current and valid RN license according to the State of Louisiana
  • Must maintain a current and valid driver’s license
Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Knowledge of MDS and CMS guidelines
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Office and electronic medical records
  • Additional knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT codes preferred
  • Must have excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate good, solid judgment and resourcefulness in problem solving
  • Ability to work both on a team and independently with the capability to self-direct.
  • Ability to work with interruptions and manage multiple priorities
  • Must be flexible and receptive to change
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain new information
  • Must have strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
Education:
  • 10 years’ experience as an RN required
  • BSN-RN required
  • Clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
  • RN with Charge Nurse or Nurse Management Experience required
  • RNwith MDS, Utilization Review or Nurse Case Management preferred
  • Current LA RN License required.
Work Environment:
  • Must be able to work with individuals with developmental disabilities
Physical Demands:
  • Walk, stand, sit, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, use hands and lift up to 50lbs, 2/3’s of the time

Today, Holy Angels offers residential services to approximately 185 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities from more than 20 states.
