Director of Nursing - Critical Access Hospital
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team at a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in rural North Florida. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for all nursing services within the hospital
- Oversee daily nursing operations, ensuring efficient and effective patient care delivery
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory standards
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient care needs
- Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to promote interdisciplinary teamwork
- Monitor quality assurance and patient safety initiatives, addressing any issues proactively
- Ensure staff training, development, and performance evaluations are conducted regularly
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation requirements
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages professional growth and staff retention
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid and current nursing license (RN) in the state of Florida
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
- Proven experience in nursing leadership, preferably in a hospital or critical access setting
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality improvement processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing healthcare environments
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care and staff development

Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Currently licensed in Florida as a RN. BSN preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 4 years medical/surgical experience in hospital setting. Employee Health and Infection Control experience. Minimum of 3 years management experience is required.1 year experience in emergency room or critical care preferred.
Skills: BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. May obtain ACLS and PALS within six months of hire. BLS required before first day of employment. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Outstanding proficiency in computer system operations and software applications, to include but not limited to Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and Electronic Medical Records applications.
Knowledge: Keeps abreast of nursing changes by attending programs for continuing education. Must provide evidence of continuing education yearly with emphasis on aspects of infectious diseases, or public health.
Additional courses in hospital management, or behavioral management, teaching and supervision.
Abilities: Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations, be attentive to detail, work well under stressful situations, and maintain a positive attitude. Must have ability to complete multiple projects. Must possess basic computer skills, including e-mail use. Ability to coordinate and prioritize activities. Ability to interact with various staff. Must be able to relate positively to patients, families, and government regulators, and to work cooperatively with other associates at all levels.

Physical Requirements

Lake Butler Hospital is a critical access hospital providing 24-hour emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, swing bed, rehabilitation services, outpatient laboratory and outpatient radiology (x-ray and ultrasound) services to Union and surrounding counties. We are devoted to providing quality healthcare in a comfortable setting to all members of our community.
LBH also provides primary care at the Lake Butler Hospital Rural Health Clinic and provides outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy at Lake Butler Hospital Rehabilitation Center.
