Job Description

Pediatric Home Service is excited to be expanding with a new Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center in San Antonio. We specialize in providing exceptional care for medically complex, technology-dependent, and behaviorally challenged children through a child-focused, family-centered model designed to help every child thrive.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Director of Nursing to help lead clinical operations at our new San Antonio location. Our PPEC center will provide skilled nursing care in a safe, nurturing day-health environment and operate in full compliance with Medicaid guidelines and state regulatory standards, ensuring the highest levels of quality, safety, and accountability.

THE POSITION:

As the Director of Nursing, you will oversee the case management of all children admitted for Day Health Center-Based Services. Working closely with the Center Administrator, you will ensure the safe delivery of services aligned with PHS’s mission and standards. This role involves establishing strong relationships with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals while managing staffing patterns to meet clinical needs. You will also assume the “Acting Administrator” role in the absence of the Center Administrator.

  • Assist in administrative duties and case management.
  • Coordinate daily clinical activities and respond to emergency situations.
  • Manage staff schedules and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with admissions for effective patient management.
  • Develop comprehensive care plans and coordinate services with other providers.
  • Lead family education initiatives to enhance care confidence.
  • Participate in staff training and development programs.
  • Monitor quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Help manage the center’s budget and operational reports.
  • Engage in on-call rotations and clinical evaluations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; current Texas RN license required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year in nursing management and leadership.
  • CPR certification required; PALS certification preferred.
  • Experience in pediatrics, especially with medically fragile children, is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge of community resources.
