Peter Becker Community is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Director of Nursing (DON) to guide our Nursing Department with excellence, compassion, and integrity. This is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic, clinical, and operational performance of our nursing services.

What You’ll Do

As the Director of Nursing, you will provide administrative leadership and ensure exceptional care across our community by:

Leadership & Operations

  • Setting departmental goals, policies, schedules, and procedures — and ensuring successful implementation.

  • Supervising and evaluating nursing leadership; delegating effectively to support high-quality resident care.

  • Making decisions related to hiring, evaluations, disciplinary actions, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations.

  • Spending 30% of your time on the units, coaching and supporting nursing staff.

Quality, Compliance & Standards

  • Developing and maintaining policies that support optimal nursing practice and regulatory compliance.

  • Leading infection control program development, training, and monitoring.

  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations related to resident care and documentation.

  • Overseeing quality improvement initiatives and participating in organizational QI efforts.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Managing staffing, productivity, and training to maintain operational efficiency.

  • Creating and managing the nursing budget, including capital expenses.

  • Approving departmental purchases and monitoring expenditures.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partnering closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and external providers to ensure coordinated, quality care.

  • Working alongside the Medical Director on care issues and compliance.

  • Serving on internal committees and representing the organization at regional DON meetings.

Resident & Family Engagement

  • Conducting periodic rounds, ensuring care standards, and supporting families with communication and guidance.

🎓 What You Bring

  • Current RN License (required)

  • BA/BS degree (required)

  • Strong leadership abilities with experience supervising large teams

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance, and quality standards

  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and person-centered care

  • Passion for fostering a supportive, home-like environment for residents
