Job Description

Acadia Broadcasting is seeking an experienced, forward‑thinking leader to set and drive strategy for a modern, multi‑platform news and community content operation serving audiences across Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick

This is a senior leadership role for a proven content leader with experience shaping editorial and digital strategy across platforms. While strong journalistic judgment remains core to the role, the successful candidate will also bring a broader view of community‑focused content — ensuring our portals deliver timely news alongside engaging, relevant information that reflects the interests and needs of the communities we serve.

At Acadia, people enjoy coming to work. We take our responsibility to audiences seriously, support one another as professionals, and believe great content is built in a collaborative, respectful environment.

With 16 radio brands and 11 community websites, this role plays a central part in shaping how Acadia delivers local news, information, and community‑driven content across our network.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, coach and support a team of 14 journalists across multiple markets.
  • Set editorial direction and uphold high journalistic standards across radio, digital, and community platforms.
  • Work with our senior leadership to drive audience and revenue growth on-air and online
  • Ensure ethical, accurate, and timely coverage of breaking and ongoing news.
  • Manage newsroom operations, including staffing, workflows, and budgets.

What You Bring:

  • 5–7 years of progressive newsroom experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
  • Post‑secondary education in broadcast journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • A strong journalistic foundation with experience in reporting, editing, and storytelling in local or regional news environments.
  • Solid understanding of radio news operations, audio production, and writing for the ear.
  • Proven digital expertise, including social media strategy, SEO, analytics, and online publishing tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, exercise sound editorial judgment, and perform effectively in high‑pressure or breaking news situations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian broadcasting standards, CRTC regulations, and journalism ethics.

What You Will Receive

  • Competitive compensation
  • Flexible health and dental coverage, including life insurance and disability benefits
  • Annual Health Spending Account
  • 5% employer‑matched RRSP
  • Three weeks’ vacation to start
  • Fitness reimbursement program
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program and a strong wellness offering
