The Director of Network Infrastructure and IT Operations is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the organization's enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, and service delivery. This role ensures high availability, security, and compliance while integrating AI and automation to improve efficiency. The director plays a critical leadership role in strengthening organizational resilience, overseeing disaster recovery and business continuity, and ensuring compliance with CMMC, CARF, PCI, and other regulatory standards. The director will help define and lead a comprehensive infrastructure and operations strategy aligned with business growth, security, and compliance goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluate emerging technologies for AI, infrastructure, automation, and security.
Drive adoption of AI, automation, and modern cloud-native technologies to enhance scalability and efficiency.
Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to make certain network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of data centers and ensures that all data center equipment is fully functional and responds to users’ needs.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network resource administration and appropriate use.
Responsible for setting up, developing and maintaining computer networks within or between enterprises. This function must ensure the integrity of high-availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance. In addition, this function defines and controls the access to information and resources within a computer network, based on their roles and circumstances. Controls are set through authentication, authorization, provisioning and directory services.
Provides centralized support operations that deliver capabilities to ensure continuity of operations and includes help desk, provisioning of users, their devices and office productivity aides, disaster recovery, and maintaining high-availability systems. In addition, a process-optimized organization implements key ITIL processes to achieve consistency, quality and scalability
Responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, migration, backup, recovery and security of database software. Working closely with the infrastructure team, new releases and patches are managed to continue to optimize how databases are used.
Establish best practices and policies for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Conduct research and make recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Create, and maintain the enterprise’s security awareness training program.
Create and maintain the enterprise’s security documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, and procedures).
Create and maintain the enterprise’s Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, where appropriate. Design, implement, and test disaster recovery and business
continuity plans to ensure IT services can recover from cyberattacks, outages, and natural disasters.
Operational Management:
Leverage AI and automation tools (e.g., intelligent monitoring, RPA, chatbot-based service desks) to streamline operations and improve MTTR
Ensure infrastructure meets security and compliance requirements for CMMC (NIST 800-171), CARF, HIPAA, PCI, and GDPR.
Partner with cybersecurity teams to manage risk, enforce access control, and ensure proactive patching and vulnerability remediation.
Manage and ensure effectiveness of servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software.
Manage and ensure optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and so on.
Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
Maintain audit-ready documentation and lead IT readiness for assessments and certifications.
Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent network activities.
Direct and administrate a contingent of network analysts and technicians, and where necessary, conduct performance reviews and corrective action.
Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the data residing on or transmitted to/from/through enterprise workstations, servers, and other systems and in databases and other data repositories.
Supervise all investigations into problematic activity and provide on-going communication with senior management.
Responsible for the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and the support of security audits.
Provide guidance to junior members of the team.

QualificationsEducation and Experience:
Formal Education & Experience
10+ years of experience managing medium to large-scale networks.
10 years of experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.
Strong background in managing compliance with CMMC and CARF, as well as PCI, HIPAA, or GDPR.
Experience with Cisco Meraki, VMWare, VPNs, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as servers, routers, bridges, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards, and so on.
Knowledge and understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
