Job Description

Role Summary

As the U.S. healthcare market continues to evolve, customer needs and expectations are becoming increasingly complex. Addressing these challenges requires innovative strategies that foster meaningful engagement, strengthen strategic partnerships, and deliver measurable business results.

The Director of National Key Accounts (I&I) is a senior, customer-facing leader responsible for building strategic partnerships and delivering solutions that create sustained competitive advantage with I&I’s most influential national accounts. This role requires a deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare system, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), payer dynamics, customer priorities, and evolving market trends.

Leveraging comprehensive knowledge of the I&I portfolio and marketplace, the Director will design and execute strategic engagement plans that align customer priorities with Pfizer’s business objectives. As a matrix leader, this individual will coordinate cross-functional stakeholders—including senior leadership, Health IT, Medical, Marketing, Commercial Effectiveness, and other enterprise partners—to advance customer-valued solutions and deliver on revenue goals.

Role Responsibilities

  • Strategic Account Leadership: Directly engage prioritized national accounts to develop long-term, mutually beneficial relationships that advance Pfizer’s strategic objectives and deliver on revenue goals. Expand Pfizer’s breadth and depth of influence within assigned accounts by building strategic relationships, advancing customer-valued solutions, and making critical decisions that significantly impact Pfizer’s relationship with each customer.
  • Enterprise Influence: Serve as a subject matter expert on customer engagement, resource optimization, and U.S. market trends to enhance Pfizer’s relevance and inform enterprise strategy.
  • Insight Generation: Capture, synthesize, and communicate actionable customer insights to influence strategic brand planning, resource allocation, and cross-functional decision-making. Serve as the primary point of contact for customer engagements and projects where a specific brand or therapeutic area opportunity is identified.
  • Integrated Planning: Lead a cross-functional integrated team representing Key National Accounts, including Commercial Effectiveness, MG/IDN Marketing, Medical, Health IT, Brand Marketing, PCA, and Legal, as applicable. Develop and execute a strategic plan for each assigned national account to align enterprise resources, customer priorities, and business objectives.
  • Innovation & Execution: Design scalable solutions and engagement platforms that address customer needs while driving operational excellence and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or MPH preferred.
  • Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 8+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, with a strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and IDN/key account dynamics.
  • 5–10 years of account management experience preferred.
  • Key Account Management (KAM) experience required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and driving record in compliance with company standards. Any DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citation within the past seven years will disqualify a candidate from being hired.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • Expertise in strategic account planning and execution.
  • Ability to generate deep customer insights and integrate them into business decisions.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and influence skills across matrix teams.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and project management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable solutions for complex customer environments.
