
Happy Trails Christian Fellowship (Surprise, AZ) – Director of Media Production & IT The Big Picture Happy Trails Christian Fellowship ( https://htcfsurprise.church ) is a thriving, non-denominational church with remarkable unity and spiritual vitality – a congregation representing more than 30 denominational backgrounds worshiping together in harmony, firmly committed to teaching God’s Word directly from the Bible. The church is located within Happy Trails Resort, a vibrant 55+ active adult community of approximately 3,500 residents in Surprise, Arizona (on the western edge of the Phoenix metro). Many members are “snowbirds,” so in-person attendance grows to 400 during the winter season, averages around 150 mid-summer, and the church reaches another 200–300 people weekly through its strong and growing online ministry. The online congregation is growing, and the church is looking for a full-time person to fill a new position as Director of Media Production & IT – supporting all ministries with weekly in-house and online livestream production as well as special events (Easter, Christmas, and Memorials). This is a fun, loving staff looking for someone seeking a long-term position. The role reports to the Pastors, Board of Directors President, and Webmaster. Job Profile Full time / Regular / Exempt Own all technical aspects of weekend and special services Lead, recruit, train, and schedule volunteers; work weekly with the Choir Director, Worship Team, Setup Team, and Tech Team Manage the technical and creative aspects of production – setup and teardown, cameras, lighting, videography, and design for various production environments Manage the church networks, hardware, and software management platforms (Apple, Mosyle, YouTube, apps, etc.) Manage all equipment required to run the livestream and in-house production, and the budget allocated to A/V and IT Assist on occasion with video editing, audio recording, and slide creation; collaborate with teams to provide training and technical support Participate in weekly staff meetings and support all-church functions; additional duties as assigned by the Pastor, Board President, or Webmaster Schedule: typically Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, with late-evening setup during high season – high season (Oct–Mar) is extremely busy with longer hours, while the off-season allows substantially fewer hours Physical demands include prolonged standing, stairs, equipment setup/teardown, and lifting up to 50 pounds Qualifications Above reproach in all areas of character, equivalent to 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5, with a deep love for the Lord and His people A heart for senior adults and a willingness to minister to their needs Alignment with Happy Trails Christian Fellowship’s non-denominational, Bible-based conservative Christian theology If married, a believing spouse who fully supports the ministry and its odd hours Must live in the Surprise, AZ area and be able to be on-site as needed Minimum 2 years’ experience in a live production environment, with strong project management skills Demonstrated ability recruiting, training, and developing volunteer teams Proficiency with professional audio, video, and lighting systems (Blackmagic, Behringer X32, PTZ Optics cameras, lighting equipment) and livestream software (Subsplash, ATEM MixEffect Pro, OBS) Proficiency with common production and office applications on Apple equipment; familiar with AI programs Knowledgeable about worship production best practices; strong written and spoken communication; a team player with a positive attitude Compensation & Benefits $40,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience About the Area Happy Trails Resort is a welcoming 55+ gated community centered around an 18-hole golf course with a vibrant social life – pools and spas, pickleball, tennis, a fitness center, specialty clubs, and professional musical performances January through March; it’s often described as “a summer camp for seniors.” The city of Surprise sits on the western edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area, offering big-city amenities – professional sports, theater, arts, and world-class medical care – with small-town safety, comfort, and convenience.
