Summary
The Director of Materials Management is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and operational performance of the Materials Management Department, including Purchasing and Central Services.
Essential Functions
As the Director of Materials Management, you will:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage, and hospital-wide distribution
-  Provide strategic administrative support including reporting, budgeting, utilization analysis, and capital expenditure management
-  Partner directly with hospital departments to evaluate material specifications and needs
-  Lead contract negotiations and manage vendor relationships (including GPO and non-GPO agreements)
- Review and approve purchase orders to ensure compliance and cost efficiency
-  Oversee all Central Services operations (excluding sterilization procedures)
-  Solicit proposals from manufacturers and distributors for hospital supplies and equipment (excluding pharmaceuticals and dietary products)
Leadership Responsibilities
You will directly supervise all employees in:
- Materials Management
- Purchasing
- Central Services
You’ll be responsible for building a high-performing, accountable, and service-focused team.

Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree or higher in Business Administration, Economics, or related field (relevant experience may substitute for degree)
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in purchasing or materials management in a healthcare setting (hospital preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of leadership/management experience
- Strong knowledge of hospital inventory and purchasing practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3–5 years of recent leadership experience in hospital Materials Management
Physical Requirements
This role requires frequent standing, sitting, communication, and coordination activities, with occasional lifting and movement throughout the hospital.

Boone Memorial Health is a nonprofit healthcare company based in Boone County, West Virginia which owns and operates a critical access hospital with a 25-bed inpatient unit, Level IV Trauma Center, and Black Lung Center; two rural health clinics with two expansion locations; and a substance and mental health treatment program. In addition to inpatient, emergency, Black Lung, and primary care services, BMH offers several specialty practices and ancillary services at our locations throughout Boone County.
