VENUE/PROPERTY INFO

Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is consistently ranked as the #1 entertainment venue in the state. Our venue boasts a full calendar of events including concerts, comedy shows, family shows, sporting events, banquets, conventions, trade shows, meetings, and more. With the attached Convention Center and Arena, we are the largest venue between Omaha and Fargo, and from Minneapolis to Denver.

THE ROLE

The Director of Marketing oversees the planning and implementation of a complete marketing campaign for the facility and all events, including social media, advertising, promotion, and publicity.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the marketing and public relations image of the facility. Establishes and maintains relationships with media, industry influencers, and key community and strategic partners. Acts as facility spokesperson and liaison with the public.
  • Develops and implements an advertising and publicity campaign to create regional and national awareness of the facility.
  • Creates and supervises marketing plans for events when required, to include all available services: media placement, social media, promotional development, non‑profit opportunities, etc., in coordination with event promoters to maximize ticket sales and attendance.
  • Operates the department with a conscious commitment to maximum exposure for the facility and its events, through the most effective and efficient means possible.
  • Develops marketing materials and procedures to have the department function effectively as an in‑house agency.
  • Maintains and oversees relationships with all media representatives, civic and industry organizations, corporate promotional contacts, and event and booking representatives.
  • Oversees the coordination of promotions and special events with event promoters and facility personnel.
  • Remains current on national trends in the industry and local market changes to best serve the facility.
  • Maintains high standards, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
  • Explores new avenues of revenue(s) for the facility.
  • Develops and maintains a facility website and email subscriber newsletters.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises one Marketing team member. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field preferred
  • 4 years of related experience in marketing, public relations, or sales in entertainment industry or related field (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
  • Working knowledge of the principles of facility management and/or special events
  • Supervisory experience preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and Canva
  • Proficiency in social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, etc., with experience in content creation
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to handle multiple tasks at a time
  • Strong creative background
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work event hours, including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays
