Job Description

The HTV Charlotte Ad Operations team supports Hearst Television’s 35 stations nationwide by managing the execution, accuracy, and delivery of advertising campaigns across linear and digital platforms. Ad Operations serve as the operational backbone of the revenue engine overseeing order entry, inventory management, advertising copy, log production ensuring campaigns run as sold.

The Director of Ad Operations leads the team’s day-to-day operations while improving how we work. This role focuses on building better processes, structuring the team for success, and partnering across the business to support revenue.

This role requires in-office presence a minimum of four days per week.

What You’ll Do

Leadership, Team Management, Collaboration

  1. Lead and develop a team of senior managers and their expanded teams, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture

  2. Set clear expectations and create an environment where people can grow, take ownership, and do their best work

  3. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex operational and personnel challenges

  4. Work closely with Sales, Finance, and other departments to keep operations running smoothly

Strategy & Operational Excellence

  1. Evaluate current workflows, systems, and team structures; implement scalable solutions to support growth

  2. Lead short- and long-term planning and key operational initiatives

  3. Drive continuous improvement through smarter processes, automation, and standardization

  4. Establish and/or enhance service level agreements (SLA) with sales, finance, audit and other internal constituents

Systems & Innovation

  1. Oversee operational systems, policies, and procedures

  2. Partner with Product and Technology on system enhancements (e.g., WideOrbit and future platforms)

  3. Use data and reporting to drive informed decision-making

  4. Support enterprise initiatives including CRM evolution and digital integration

  5. Manage fulfillment systems technology partners, contract negotiations/extensions, service level communications, etc.

Special Projects

  1. Lead high-impact, cross-functional initiatives across cross-functional teams

  2. Support change management for new tools, processes, and organizational shifts

What We Are Looking For

  1. 10+ years of experience in Television and/or Cable Ad Operations

  2. 10+ years of experience managing large teams

  3. Strong knowledge of related ad tech platforms, processes and workflows

  4. Experience driving operational strategy and process improvement

  5. Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders

  6. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  7. A strategic leader who values accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
