The Director of Life Enrichment/ Activities is responsible for all aspects of planning and implementing therapeutic recreation services for patients/residents and while meeting all regulatory standards. Plan, organize, develop and assist in the direction of the Memory Special Care Unit and work collaboratively with Nurse Leadership, Memory Special Care Unit Manager, Social Services and Spiritual Care, and other facility staff in the development of a therapeutic milieu. Serves as an integral member of the Memory Care Leadership Team to ensure all residents are treated with individualized care, respect, and dignity. The individual demonstrates the mission and philosophy of NDHC in the performance of this job. The individual also promotes wellness for residents with memory impairment and supports on functional mobility.

Our skilled nursing facility is looking for a Full-Time Director of Activities for our memory care unit which is considered a designated special care unit (DSCU) position to be part of their team. As one of Worcester’s largest post-acute healthcare organizations, NDHC provides long term/skilled rehab care, residential assisted living care, homecare services, adult/pediatric hospice and palliative care. We are conveniently located on Plantation Street, off the shores of Lake Quinsigamond within the woods of the Worcester Land Trust.

Requirements
· Certification as an Activities Director or Recreation Therapist granted by an organization recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health required. Must meet one of the following position requirements:
· 1. Three to Five (3-5) years' experience as an Activities Director in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting or
· 2. Licensed qualified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) with at least one year experience in social/recreational program in a skilled nursing facility or
· 3. One to three (1-3) years' experience as an Activities Director in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting, and certification as a Memory Care Practitioner (DCP) granted by an organization recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health or Alzheimer’s Association.
4. Memory Care Experience preferred.
· 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language with the ability to communicate effectively, in writing, as well as verbally required. Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Activities Department.
