The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides proactive, customer-service oriented legal support and guidance to clients across the campus community. Serving in a leadership role, the Director of Legal Operations is responsible for overseeing, managing, and coordinating all operations of the OGC, has primary responsibility for initiating and overseeing key strategic projects, and ensures the OGC is implementing best practices to maximize efficiency and productivity.

This position reports directly to the General Counsel. Flexible work arrangements may be considered as appropriate based on the needs of the office and the position.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Operations Leadership
-Oversees, manages, and coordinates all operations of the OGC with efficiency and accuracy.
-Manages high-priority projects and programs designed to support OGC goals and advance the University's mission and strategic vision.
-Builds and maintains successful working relationships with senior officials and coordinates with a wide range of offices, staff, and stakeholders, internal and external to the University.
-May oversee the direct or indirect supervision of assigned personnel within the OGC, including student or temporary staff.
-Periodically reviews all legal operations to identify gaps, develops plans for improvement with OGC leadership, and executes enhancements.
-Ensures technology is well-utilized across the OGC, including implementation and optimization of existing systems and recommendations for new tools when necessary.
-Owns and operationalizes the higher education legal training program.
-Independently reviews and resolves complex and sensitive problems and concerns from internal and external constituencies.

Financial and Office Management
-Monitors legal spend for the OGC, including proactive reporting to determine trends and progress against budget, goals, and benchmarks.
-Efficiently processes invoices, travel authorizations, expense reimbursements, and other documentation.
-Manages communication and scheduling activities for the Office of General Counsel, ensuring effective time management and prioritization of schedule using appropriate judgment to adjust as necessary.
-Oversees the process for responding to subpoenas and provides litigation support.
-Manages the OGC website and ensures information is accessible and up-to-date.
-Performs other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.

Minimum Qualifications
-Articulated ability to be a self-starter with an emphasis on providing customer service.
-Bachelor's degree with at least five years of experience related to the duties (listed in key responsibilities) - Legal Operations Leadership and Financial and Office Management and increasing responsibility in comparable positions.
-Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, and manage complex logistics with a high degree of accuracy.
-Demonstrated interpersonal skills, along with a proven ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining a highly professional demeanor.
-Strong information technology and computer skills, including extensive knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Suite, new programs and software, etc.
-Experience working in a legal or compliance-related field.
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

-Master’s Degree
-Experience working in higher education
-Experience with formal project management


Additional Information

will be given to applications received on or before September 20, 2026. Salary will be between $70,000 - $80,000 per year,
commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include comprehensive
