Job Description

Simucube is a game-changer in the world of sim racing and simulators. At the heart of Hervanta, Tampere, our skilled and warm-hearted team builds products known for their top performance and high quality.

Behind our products lies a powerful motion control and haptics platform developed by our parent company, Granite Devices. Now, we are taking the next step.

We are launching a new Industrial business unit to bring this technology into new markets such as industrial, automotive, and defence applications. Read more →

This is a founding-level opportunity. You will lead a founding director trio — together with a Commercial Director and a Technical Director — and carry overall responsibility for what the industrial business becomes.

This is not a role where you inherit a business, you will build one, from the first customer project to a fully operating business unit.

Are you ready to combine technical leadership and strategic thinking, and turn proven technology into a scalable new business?

The role in a nutshell:

  • This is a full-time, permanent role.

  • We are based in Hervanta, Tampere. While we offer flexible working arrangements, we enjoy being together in the office and expect this role to have a regular on-site presence

  • The compensation package includes a base salary of 6000-7000 €/month. The final offer will be based on the competence and experience you bring with you

  • We are looking for someone who is energised by building something from scratch and has the technical depth to make it real

  • This recruitment process is anonymous (read more).

As the Director of Industrial Business, you'll play a key role in…

You will build a completely new business area within Simucube and Granite Devices, with long-term ambitions and the potential for the unit's ownership and structure to evolve as it scales.

You will have a proven technology platform and Granite Devices' engineering team behind you as your foundation. Your focus is on leading the team, coordinating across commercial and technical functions, and ensuring the business delivers.

You will act as the bridge between customer needs and our internal engineering capabilities, shaping both the commercial approach and future product direction.

This requires genuine technical depth; you need to understand what customers are asking for at a system level and translate it into something our engineers can build.

As traction is established, you will scale the team and take full ownership of the business unit.

Your responsibilities will include:

In the early phase, you will:

  • Support the go-to-market approach and own the delivery pipeline for the industrial business

  • Engage directly with customers and work closely with the Commercial Director to understand customer technical needs and convert opportunities into closed deals

  • Translate these into product and platform concepts together with our R&D team

  • Validate and prioritise the most promising target segments

  • Lead the scoping and delivery of the first customer projects

  • Define and validate the technical and commercial model for the industrial business

As the business scales, you will:

  • Build and lead a team of 5–10 engineers (partly outsourced)

  • Define the product roadmap and guide customer-specific development projects

  • Ensure technical solutions are scalable and reusable across future customers

  • Take full ownership of the business unit's targets, performance, and P&L

  • As the business unit grows, its structure and ownership may evolve, including the potential for it to operate as a standalone entity

We believe this role could be a great fit if you bring many of the following:

  • Have a strong technical foundation in areas such as motion control, embedded systems, or mechatronics, and a track record in industrial, automotive, robotics, or defence technology, in business development, project leadership, or both

  • Hold a degree in engineering or a related technical field, or have equivalent practical experience

  • Have experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder technical projects

  • Have an existing network in relevant industries or a strong ability to build one quickly

  • Can build and manage a team, including outsourced engineers

  • Can operate as both a strategist and a hands-on doer

  • Thrive in an environment where you are building something new from scratch

  • Are at a senior level — you have done this before and do not need to be told how to get started

It's a plus if you:

  • Have experience with haptics, simulation, or drive technologies

  • Have worked with complex, project-based or platform sales

  • Have experience in product or concept definition

  • Have experience building or launching a new business unit or product category

  • Have experience in a scale-up or similar environment

In return, we offer you

A rare opportunity to build: the chance to create and scale a new business unit within an established and profitable deep-tech company.

A real foundation to build on: a defined industrial platform architecture, a delivery partner already in place, and active customer discussions across defence simulation, remote control, and industrial automation. You are not starting from zero.

Ownership and impact: a role with clear responsibility, including full business ownership as the unit grows.

Flexibility and freedom: flexible working hours and hybrid work options, with access to high-quality tools and equipment.

Continuous learning: support for professional growth, training programs, and access to learning resources.
