Blending sophisticated design, exceptional dining experiences and personalised service, the hotel embodies the vision of the EDITION brand: individual, refined and deeply connected to its destination.

As a destination renowned for its striking natural beauty, progressive culture and growing global appeal, Reykjavik provides the perfect setting for a luxury lifestyle hotel that balances contemporary elegance with authentic local experiences. We are seeking an exceptional Director of Human Resources to join the Executive Committee and help shape the culture, talent and leadership capability that underpin the continued success of The Reykjavik EDITION.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the property's Human Resources strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and EDITION brand standards.
  • Drive talent acquisition, workforce planning and succession management initiatives to support long-term organisational success.
  • Champion associate engagement programmes, diversity initiatives and culture-building strategies that strengthen retention and performance.
  • Partner with department leaders to develop leadership capability, employee development plans and high-performing teams.
  • Oversee compensation, recognition and reward initiatives, ensuring competitiveness, internal equity and alignment with business priorities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager, Executive Committee and ownership stakeholders on all people-related matters.
  • Lead change management initiatives, organisational reviews and strategic workforce planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, Marriott policies and Human Resources best practices while maintaining a fair and inclusive workplace.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be a thoughtful and commercially minded Human Resources leader with a genuine passion for people and luxury hospitality.

You will bring a strong blend of strategic insight, emotional intelligence and operational expertise, enabling you to influence decision-making at every level of the organisation. Comfortable operating within a dynamic luxury environment, you will understand the critical role that culture, engagement and leadership development play in delivering exceptional guest experiences.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

  • An authentic and inspiring leadership style.
  • Experience leading Human Resources functions within luxury hospitality or premium service environments.
  • Strong expertise in talent acquisition, succession planning and organisational development.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how people strategies influence business performance.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to coach, mentor and develop future leaders while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Education & Experience

  • A two-year degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline, with a minimum of four years' experience in Human Resources, management operations or a related professional area;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline, with a minimum of two years' relevant professional experience.
