At Raytheon UK, we take immense pride in being a leader in defence and aerospace technology. As an employer, we are dedicated to fueling innovation, nurturing talent, and fostering a culture of excellence.

Joining our team means being part of an organisation that shapes the future of national security whilst investing in your growth and personal development. We provide a collaborative environment, abundant opportunities for professional development, and a profound sense of purpose in what we do. Together, we are not just advancing technology; we're building a community committed to safeguarding a safer and more connected world.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Human Resources, based within our UK business, to partner with the in‑country leadership team and help shape and embed our enterprise‑wide people strategy. This role is central to enabling business growth and delivering on our broader People Strategy agenda.

This strategic position reports directly to the Vice President of HR, Strategy & International with a dotted‑line relationship to the Chief Executive Officer of Raytheon UK (landed company). As the Director of Human Resources, you will be a key member of the Raytheon UK (RUK) senior leadership team, playing a critical role in setting direction, driving leadership excellence, and fostering a high‑performing, inclusive culture.

About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic people leader who can navigate a complex matrix organisation with agility. In this role, you will work across the full employee lifecycle—including Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Leadership Development, Organisational Design, and Organisational Effectiveness—while collaborating closely with our Centres of Expertise (COEs). Your work will help strengthen a shared culture and reinforce our expectations of inclusive behaviours across the business.

This onsite role will be in the United Kingdom based in either location Harlow (Essex) or Glenrothes (Scotland).

What makes this role exciting:

You will join a senior, internationally focused leadership team responsible for strengthening our inclusive culture and deepening alignment with our mission across a complex and highly regulated global environment. Supporting a UK-based defence business, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a people strategy that enables operational readiness, talent resilience, and organisational excellence.

We are seeking a highly experienced people leader with deep expertise across all areas of people consulting, ideally within defence, aerospace, government, or similarly regulated sectors. You will provide strategic guidance and trusted counsel to senior executives, ensuring our people initiatives support both the long‑term strategic direction of the organisation and the specific requirements of the UK defence landscape, including security, compliance, workforce planning, and critical skills development.

The ideal candidate is proactive, strategically minded, and energised by the opportunity to influence organisational culture and capability in a mission‑driven environment. You will help shape the future of our workforce and play a key role in ensuring we continue to deliver on our commitments to customers, partners, and national security.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to quickly understand strategic priorities, emerging opportunities, operational challenges, and external factors shaping the defence landscape.
  • Strong capability in interpreting and analysing data to inform decision‑making and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise‑level talent strategies, including high‑potential development, succession planning, assessment approaches, career pathways, and strategic talent mobility.
  • Expertise in leading organisational change using structured methodologies, consulting frameworks, and tools to ensure effective planning, adoption, and sustainability.
  • Robust project and programme management skills, ensuring initiatives are executed to scope, on time, and within budget.
  • Exceptional coaching, advisory, and influencing skills, enabling effective partnership with senior leaders across a complex organisation.
  • Confidence and sound judgement when constructively challenging senior stakeholders and addressing entrenched cultural norms or behaviours.
  • Strong problem‑solving capability, leveraging data and insights to build compelling business cases and recommendations for diverse audiences.
  • Comprehensive understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice within regulated environments.
  • Comfortable operating within a global matrix structure, including collaboration with U.S.‑based functional leadership.

We know great candidates may not meet every requirement listed. If you’re excited about this role but don’t have experience in every area, we still encourage you to apply. We offer training and development where needed and will work with you to understand your strengths and support your growth.
