
The Director of Human Resources manages the strategic direction of all areas of human resource functions for the City of Conroe within the framework of policies, practices with the direction from city management and ensuring compliance with guidelines set forth by laws, regulations and administrative rulings established by local and federal government. The Director is responsible for the overall functions of recruitment, compensation, training, benefits administration and equal employment opportunity, employee relations, personnel records management and risk management. Serves as the Civil Service Director at the discretion of the Civil Service Commission.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field; advanced degree preferred. Seven (7) years' experience in and knowledge of employment law and procedures and of state Civil Service law and procedures; five (5) years of supervisory experience in Human Resources and benefits related work in a city of greater than 25,000 in population.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
