What is the job?
As Director of Housekeeping, you will lead all housekeeping and laundry operations across the resort, ensuring exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction while maintaining IHG brand standards. Reporting to the Director of Rooms, you will oversee a large and diverse team, drive operational excellence, manage departmental financial performance, and foster an environment in which colleagues are empowered to deliver memorable guest experiences.
Your day-to-day
Lead and oversee all housekeeping and laundry operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation across guest rooms, villas, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
Drive IHG brand standards, cleanliness targets, quality audits, and guest satisfaction scores through effective operational leadership and continuous improvement initiatives.
Develop and manage departmental budgets, controlling labor costs, operating expenses, guest supplies, and inventory to achieve financial objectives.
Monitor departmental productivity and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining luxury service standards.
Build, coach, and develop a high-performing housekeeping team through training, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.
Establish departmental goals and ensure team members are aligned with operational priorities and hotel objectives.
Conduct regular inspections and quality audits to ensure guest rooms, public areas, equipment, linen, and facilities consistently meet luxury hospitality standards.
Collaborate closely with Engineering and other departments to coordinate preventive maintenance programs and maintain asset quality throughout the resort.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, environmental, and sustainability standards while promoting safe working practices.
Lead initiatives that support waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and responsible housekeeping operations.
Handle guest feedback, concerns, and special requests professionally and efficiently, ensuring prompt resolution and enhanced guest satisfaction.
Oversee outsourced service providers and supplier relationships to ensure service quality, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Manage workforce planning, scheduling, and labor productivity to maximize operational effectiveness across all housekeeping functions.
What we need from you
Minimum 5 years of housekeeping experience within an international upscale or luxury hotel environment, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership position.
Proven experience leading large-scale housekeeping and laundry operations in a luxury resort or internationally branded hotel.
Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, laundry operations, quality assurance programs, cleanliness audits, and luxury guest service standards.
Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing large teams, coaching future leaders, and fostering colleague engagement.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, labor management, and operational planning.
Understanding of health, safety, hygiene, environmental compliance, and sustainability practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build effective cross-functional relationships.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Bahasa Indonesia proficiency is an advantage.
