PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as the Bank's Government Relations Officer. Establishes, maintains and builds relationships with key Washington, D.C. and District constituencies. Spearheads educational and advocacy initiatives which target Members of Congress, congressional staff, state elected officials, trade associates and regulators. As necessary, connects the CEO and the Bank's senior managers with those in industry who can affect FHLBank business. Acts as Treasurer to the Bank’s PAC. Represents the Bank at PAC-related events.
- Provides counsel to the CEO and General Counsel on appropriate policy positions and strategies concerning regulatory and legislative initiatives.
- Identifies and coordinates outreach events involving Members of Congress, member financial institutions and community partners which emphasize the Bank's positive impact in the District.
- Oversees the activities of the Bank's contract lobbying firms and works with the Council of FHLBanks to more effectively serve the 10th FHLBank District.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors and/or graduate degree in business, finance, political science, real estate or other related degree.
- 5-8 years experience in the real estate finance industry, ideally in a policy, government relations or community relations position.
- Identify existing relationships and/or demonstrate knowledge of key stakeholders in the real estate finance industry including trade associations, and industry coalitions and housing groups preferred.
- Ability to independently develop and execute a strategic outreach plan to key stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work under pressure and deal effectively with all levels within the Bank.
- Superior communication, interpersonal, presentation and analytical skills.
- Extensive travel required along with the ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary to meet job duties and responsibilities.
- Thorough knowledge of the real estate finance/financial services industry required and considerable knowledge of the FHLBank System strongly preferred.
