As Food & Beverage Director for Colwen Hotels’ Portsmouth Collection, you’ll help shape unforgettable guest experiences at some of the city’s most exciting destinations, including the sophisticated AC Hotel Portsmouth, the iconic rooftop atmosphere of The Rooftop at The Envio, and the premier event spaces at Portwalk Place. Colwen Hotels is seeking an experienced, passionate, and forward-thinking Food & Beverage Director to lead the food and beverage operations for our Portsmouth Collection — including the stylish and award-winning AC Hotel Portsmouth, the iconic rooftop experience at The Rooftop at The Envio, The Envio, and The Venue at Portwalk Place.

This is not a behind-the-scenes office role. We are looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys being in the operation, mentoring teams, elevating service, driving revenue, and creating exceptional dining and event experiences that guests remember long after they leave.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

As Food & Beverage Director, you will oversee and lead all food and beverage operations across the Portsmouth Collection while driving operational excellence, guest satisfaction, associate engagement, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Leading all restaurant, bar, banquet, catering, and event food & beverage operations
• Building, developing, mentoring, and inspiring high-performing teams
• Driving exceptional guest experiences and service standards
• Collaborating closely with Hotel General Managers and Sales teams to maximize revenue opportunities
• Managing labor, cost controls, inventory, purchasing, and profitability
• Creating an energized and service-focused culture through coaching, training, and daily leadership presence
• Ensuring outstanding execution of weddings, corporate events, rooftop experiences, and social functions
• Partnering with culinary leadership on menu development, beverage programming, and seasonal offerings
• Monitoring product mix, liquor controls, and operational efficiencies
• Conducting regular staff meetings, training sessions, and pre-shift lineups
• Maintaining compliance with all health, safety, liquor, and food handling regulations
• Staying ahead of market trends, guest preferences, and emerging food & beverage concepts

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a confident and experienced hospitality professional who brings energy, creativity, accountability, and operational expertise to the role.

Qualified Candidates Will Have:

• 10+ years of food & beverage leadership experience, preferably within hotels or upscale hospitality environments
• Proven experience leading restaurants, bars, banquets, and catering operations
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing labor, inventory, and cost controls
• Exceptional leadership and team development skills
• A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• T.I.P.S. and ServSafe certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
• Experience with POS systems and hospitality technology platforms
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotational schedules as needed
