Essential Job Summary:

The Director of Maintenance role is a dynamic, multi-task oriented, senior professional that provides oversight and support for multiple locations. This role will oversee the Manger of Fleet Maintenance for Jersey City, Bronx, and Brooklyn, ensuring alignment of maintenance operations, consistency in execution and achievement of fleet performance objectives across the market.

The Director will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that support and maximize fleet reliability, availability, and performance. Key responsibilities include monitoring daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance metrics; managing and optimizing the maintenance budget; driving preventive maintenance initiatives; and ensuring compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.

This role will provide leadership, coaching, and operational guidance to maintenance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. The Director will work closely with the Area Vice President of Operations and other cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities for process improvements, resource optimization, and enhanced service delivery while supporting the organization's overall business objectives.

  • Must have track record on strategic fleet initiatives, OSHA regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Must be able to manage and interface with unionized labor.
  • Must have the ability to track and control parts inventories, vendors, suppliers and demonstrate warranty cost savings.
  • Must be able to properly prioritize, implement and manage work schedules, projects and assignments.
  • Must be able to manage the financial/accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have technical competence with light/medium/heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Must display initiative, professionalism, candor, and tact at all times.
  • Technical experience with heavy duty truck maintenance.
  • Solid knowledge of managing/directing PM schedules, planning and scheduling and labor management.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Suite and fleet software platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills.
  • Oversee and manage a comprehensive asset utilization plan to maximize asset availability
  • Align with Operations and Financial Management on an annual fleet budget plan and tactical/strategic initiatives to ensure lowest TCO.
  • Oversee and lead asset planning, fuel conservation, vendor management, vehicle mechanical safety, productivity and environmental management for the fleet
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and oversee daily management of fleet/logistics operations processes
  • Ensure contingency policies, systems and practices are in place to prevent and eliminate business disruption
  • Responsible for and manage all regulatory compliance (DOT, OSHA, ANSI, etc.)
  • Build and sustain strong business relationships with Operations, Safety, Finance and other relevant internal and external stakeholders

  • Required: High School with 7+ years of related experience.Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years’ of related experience.

    • Self-Starter with strong communication skills.

    USD $160,000.00/Yr.
