FinWise Bank is committed to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence. The Director of Fintech Implementations plays a critical leadership role in the onboarding, implementation, integration, and modification of Specialty Banking programs and strategic fintech partnerships.

This position is responsible for leading the implementation function and overseeing the successful delivery of implementation projects from initial scoping and due diligence through program launch and operational stabilization. The Director serves as the primary leader accountable for implementation governance, team management, resource allocation, stakeholder coordination, documentation oversight, and implementation delivery. The Director leads a team of implementation professionals and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all programs meet business, operational, compliance, risk, regulatory, and customer experience requirements.

Tasks

  • Leads, manages, develops, and mentors the Fintech Implementations team.
  • Oversee successful implementation and modification of strategic fintech programs and partnerships.
  • Provides leadership throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Ensure implementations are delivered on schedule and within approved scope.
  • Oversees resource planning, prioritization, and capacity management.
  • Serves as senior escalation point for implementation risks and issues.
  • Leads requirements gathering and stakeholder alignment efforts.
  • Establishes and maintains implementation methodologies, standards, controls, and best practices.
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams and facilitates communication among stakeholders and Executive level management.
  • Oversees implementation testing, operational readiness, and launch activities.
  • Oversees implementation documentation and record retention practices.
  • Participates in internal audits, external audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews.
  • Partners with Compliance, Risk Management, and Internal Audit teams on remediation efforts.
  • Identifies implementation risks and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Leads preparation of board materials, including memos for timely distribution and briefing for board-ready deliverables.
  • Advises stakeholders on implementation best practices and process improvements.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and employee development skills.
  • Strong understanding of implementation management and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of banking operations and fintech partnerships.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance, operational risk management, and governance.
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills.

Required Education / Experience / License

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Management, Information Systems, Project Management, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of banking, fintech, implementation, operations, or project management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or people management experience.

Preferred Education /Experience / License

  • Experience supporting fintech partnerships, BaaS, payments, lending, or embedded finance programs preferred but not required.
  • Project management certification preferred but not required.

Minimum Essential Requirements

  • Sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time and look at a computer screen for several hours a day.
  • Communicate with others in person, on the phone, through virtual meetings, and email.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Standard work hours are usually Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. While this position generally follows standard business hours, additional hours may be required periodically to support critical business initiatives, implementation milestones, priority projects, audit activities, partner onboarding efforts, and other time-sensitive business needs. The Director is expected to exercise flexibility and leadership to ensure successful project completion and achievement of established deadlines.
