Job Description
What you'll do:
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
- Verify the accuracy and timeliness of accounting functions at assigned properties: daily and month-endreporting, payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash and corporatecard management
- Lead and develop property accounting staff to meet the needs of the business
- Manageandoverseethemonth-endcloseprocess,balancesheetreconciliations,andothertimelinesin coordinationwithcorporateandpropertyaccountingstaff
- Developandachievefinancialgoals:Createtheannualoperatingplanalignedwiththecompany's strategicdirection
- Provide analytical tools and support to department heads to manage costs and lead budget preparation
- Leadtheoperationsteamsanddepartmentheadsincreatingaccuratemonthlyforecaststhatallowtheteamtoreacttochangesinbusinesslevels
- Ensure monthly P&Ls reflect accurate revenues, expenses, and cost of sales calculations
- Analyzedailyandmonthlyvariancesbetweenactual,forecasted,andbudgetedperformance
- Advise GM and executive team on financial and operational issues
- Ensure the property maintains compliance with local regulations, permits, and business licenses
- Analyzefinancialdataandsalestrendstoidentifyopportunitiesforimprovement
- Lead the property in developing and maintaining a strong labor culture that maximizes productivity and performance
- Facilitate weekly and monthly P&L reviews to uncover challenges, opportunities, and trends
- Manage the capital expenditure budget and reconcile expenses monthly
- Ensurestrongaccountingandoperationalcontrolstosafeguardassetsandmaximizeprofits
- Managetheaccuratecollection,posting,andreconciliationofoccupancytaxesandsalestaxes
- Provide continuous direction to and education of the operational team in all areas related to finance financial reports, internal controls, labor management, payroll, P&L performance, etc.
- MonitorFrontOfficeandSalesteamfinancialoperationsandSOPsincludingreviewofhotelledgers
- FosterstrongrelationshipswithallNewWaterloostakeholdersbyprovidingfeedbackthatpositivelyimpactstheperformanceofthebusinessandsharpensthefinancialacumenoftheteam
- Ensureopenlinesofcommunicationwithalldepartmentsandmanagementviaemail,logbooks, meetings,etc.toensureallneedsofthepropertyaremet
- Attend relevant meetings and conduct other ad hoc projects and duties as assigned
Who you are:
- Have a Bachelor’sdegreeinAccountingorFinancefromanaccreditedfour-yearcollegeoruniversity;oranequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience
- Have an-depthknowledgeoffinancialprinciplesandMicrosoftExcel
- Have 5+yearsofhotelfinancialmanagementexperiencepreferred
- Have 7+ years of general ledger accounting experience preferred
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- Abletowriteroutinereportsandcorrespondenceandprepareaccuratereportswithsharpattentionto detail
- Able to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Abletomanageexpectations,hitdeadlines,andtakeownershipofyourwork
- Possess a strongworkethicandcanworkbothautonomouslyandwithateam
- Have excellentcommunication,problem-solving,andanalyticalskills
- Have the abilityandwillingnesstoworkflexiblehoursinahigh-volumeenvironment
