Job Description

The DOF will oversee the finance and accounting functions of the MVP Arena and Parking Garage. Directly supervising Finance Department employees in the day-to-day functions involved in proper facility accounting. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legend’s policies and applicable laws. Includes oversight of the Box Office. These responsibilities and tasks are coordinated with the General Manager, as well as Legend’s Regional Director of Finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in the development and implementation of facility goals and priorities relating to financial management, budget, accounting, purchasing, and/or payroll in compliance with State and Federal law, and Legends policies and procedures. Monitors Legends compliance with all provisions of the management contract. Manages the Finance and Box Office teams. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Maintains contact with Legends’s Risk Management Department and Insurance broker for coordination of appropriate coverage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares financial statements for Client and Legends Corporate and other financial reports including monthly statements, annual budget and annual report
  • Create, maintain, and manage budgeting and forecasting including, but not limited to, operating budget, and monthly forecasting
  • Manage all aspects of the day-to-day accounting processes including sales recs, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger.
  • Supervise and oversee various finance related processes to ensure accounting records are complete and accurate.
  • Oversee all Payroll, Accounts Payable, & Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Review and sign off bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other analyses.
  • Prepare a revenue report after every event day.
  • Assist in the design and development of internal control procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Review and prepare monthly financial results and externally required financial reports.
  • Ensure a timely and accurate month-end closing process.
  • Analyze the monthly balance sheet and P&L figures to prepare comments and identify performance trends.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad hoc financial analysis for senior management including business forecasting.
  • Provide strategic advice based on analyzing trends in the operation and the financial performance of the venue.
  • Work with outside auditors
  • Hire, train, review and retain finance and accounting staff.
  • Build solid working relationships with business and department leaders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Acts as Executive on Duty as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Financial Management or CPA with 3-5 years’ experience in public accounting
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Must be highly analytical, can think creatively, and understand complex business dynamics
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and judgement regarding privileged information
  • Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets and word processing software
  • Ability to work long, irregular hours and weekends dictated by event schedules and projects.

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary: base starting at $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience
  • This position is eligible to participate in the annual bonus program

FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt
