Job Description

Agbeyewa Farms is a large, professionally run agribusiness based in Ekiti State, Nigeria. We focus on growing cassava using modern machines and improved farming methods to produce high-quality crops for food and industrial use.

We farm on a large scale and use organized systems, skilled teams, and technology to manage our operations and improve productivity. This helps us achieve better yields, control costs, and ensure a steady supply of raw materials.

With the acquisition of Matna Foods Limited, a leading cassava starch processing company, Agbeyewa Farms now plays an important role across the value chain — from farming to processing. Our work supports food security, provides raw materials for industries, and creates jobs that help rural communities grow.

We are committed to safe work practices, responsible land use, and protecting the environment, while building strong relationships with our host communities and creating opportunities for local talent.

As we continue to grow, Agbeyewa Farms is building a model that can expand across Africa, driven by professionalism, efficiency, and a clear focus on long-term impact.

We are seeking a Director of Farm Operations with responsibility for the end-to-end operational performance of Agbeyewa Farms.

This role provides strategic and hands-on leadership across land preparation, planting, crop management, harvesting, storage, and logistics—ensuring yield optimization, cost efficiency, quality control, and sustainable farming practices at scale. The role requires high level accountability for translating corporate vision into world-class farm execution across multiple locations.

The role bridges strategy and execution, translating production targets into disciplined farm operations while building strong field teams, systems, and controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate corporate vision and growth strategy into executable farm operations, land development, and expansion roadmaps.
  • Provide leadership for all large-scale, mechanized farm operations across multiple locations, with accountability for performance, scalability, and profitability.
  • Lead strategic planning for cultivation cycles, input strategy, harvest forecasting, and yield maximization across thousands of hectares.
  • Establish and institutionalize data-driven farm performance systems, dashboards, and reporting governance for executive decision-making.
  • Direct mechanization strategy, fleet optimization, asset lifecycle management, and capital equipment investments.
  • Champion best-in-class agronomic, environmental, and sustainability practices to maximize output per hectare.
  • Lead operational efficiency, cost control, and resource optimization initiatives at enterprise scale.
  • Institute governance structures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational controls required for multi-site farm scalability.
  • Drive modernization, innovation, and adoption of technology in farm management.
  • Facilitate decision-making on infrastructure development, land acquisition, and capital deployment.
  • Deliver sustained improvements in yield per hectare, cost per ton, and overall farm productivity metrics.
  • Develop leadership succession pipelines and long-term organizational capacity within farm operations.
  • Ensure year-round operational readiness and excellence across seasonal farming cycles.
  • Build and lead a high-performance leadership team comprising farm managers, supervisors, and functional leads.
  • Establish a performance culture driven by accountability, measurable KPIs, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related field; postgraduate qualification is an advantage
  • 12+ years’ experience in large-scale commercial agriculture, plantation management, or agribusiness operations at senior level
  • Proven leadership across thousands of hectares in mechanized farming environments
  • Strong experience in cassava cultivation and planning, yield management, and land development
  • Demonstrated Proft & Loss ownership and operational budget management
  • Experience managing large field teams, equipment fleets, and multi-site operations
  • Strong understanding of mechanization, irrigation (where applicable), and modern agronomic practices
  • Experience working in structured, performance-driven agricultural enterprises
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational execution capability
  • Data-driven decision maker with commercial mindset
  • Exceptional people leadership across technical and field teams
  • Ability to build systems, processes, and governance from the ground up
