Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Directs, manages and schedules the facilities team, including carpenters, plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, boiler room staff, etc. Clarify job responsibilities and performance expectations, establish goals, identify skill gaps, create development plans, coach staff on a continuous basis and evaluate performance.
  • Develop effective work teams and motivate individuals to meet goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes both daily operational work and project work for the facilities team
  • Development the Facilities capital and operating budgets and manage/report out on budget variances throughout the year to the VP of Operations
  • Evaluate and propose new, creative solutions to resolve issues, gain efficiencies and reduce downtime throughout the organization.
  • Ensure that all work orders are entered into the system accurately and resolved in a timely fashion with appropriate feedback to the requestor.
  • Develop, implement and enforce department operating standards, procedures and policies.
  • Manage vendors and the vendor contracting process including evaluation and management of support contracts, Service Level Agreements and the overall procurement process.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner and documented per Joint Commission standards.
  • Maintain all documentation required per Joint Commission standards for Life Safety and Environment of Care.
  • Prepare facilities for changing weather conditions and emerging environmental and clinical conditions.
  • Ensure that building/hospital operations comply with local zoning laws and federal and state regulations.
  • Oversee and/or provide input on all projects impacting the organizational facilities.
  • Actively identifies and participates in process improvement opportunities across the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible amount of force (up to 10 pounds) constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands). Occasionally climbs (ascends, descends ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc), balances (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching or running on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces). Occasionally stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending at the ist, legs and spine) and kneels (bending the legs at knee to come to rest on knees).

Minimum Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Work Experience

  • Minimum five years supervisory/management experience, including management of third party contractors

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of building codes, including federal, state and local
  • Knowledge of construction, engineering and Joint Commission/CMS standards required
  • Competence with computers and technology required by the position
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting maps, plan diagrams, blueprints and specifications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
