Job Description

Job Summary:

The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for consultation, investigation, evaluation and planning, design review and approval, and/or determination of environmental and safety impacts of work processes and products (buildings, utilities, systems, sites, mapping, or infrastructures). They provide project management oversight, which includes supervision of staff; overseeing or reviewing environmental, infrastructure and geomatic projects and managing implementation of projects/plans according to codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and codes related to life safety and the physical environment of care.
  • Leads and supports Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives, promoting a process-based approach and employee engagement in quality activities.
  • Applies process management principles to effectively manage, monitor, measure, and improve departmental operations.
  • Establishes and monitors quality objectives aligned with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Oversees departmental processes from planning through execution, including resource allocation, training, documentation, performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
  • Provides strategic direction, operational leadership, and oversight to supervisors and departmental staff.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors capital and operating budgets to support organizational and departmental objectives.
  • Directs the commissioning, testing, maintenance, and performance of electrical, mechanical, medical gas, and plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and programs that support a safe, compliant, and well-managed Environment of Care (EOC).
  • Evaluates staff performance, assesses competencies, develops training programs, and provides leadership during planned or emergency events, including on-site support when necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 10 years of experience in building maintenance and/or construction which involved facility planning, construction, maintenance and/or operations.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Mechanical or General Contractor's license through the South Carolina Contractor's Licensing Board preferred

Essential Skills:

  • Strong computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
