Casa Esperanza, Inc. is a bilingual and bicultural behavioral health organization dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome substance use and mental health challenges. We provide a continuum of care that empowers people to achieve recovery, stability, and wellness.

We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Director of Facilities to lead the maintenance, safety, and operational integrity of our facilities across multiple sites. This role is ideal for a facilities professional who is passionate about creating safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environments that support healing and recovery.

The Director of Facilities is responsible for overseeing all facilities operations, maintenance activities, safety programs, grounds management, and infrastructure systems for Casa Esperanza and affiliated properties. This position ensures that all facilities remain safe, functional, compliant, and supportive of the organization's mission.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Facilities leads the Facilities team, manages vendor relationships, oversees preventive maintenance programs, supports capital improvement projects, and serves as a key member of the organization's Emergency Management, Infection Control, and Incident Response teams.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of all organizational facilities, grounds, and building systems.
  • Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and facility repairs.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and after-hours facility response.
  • Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security, fire safety, and other critical building systems.
  • Oversee landscaping, snow removal, and property upkeep.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, life safety, licensing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and safety audits.
  • Coordinate fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Maintain documentation related to inspections, repairs, and compliance activities.
  • Participate in organizational emergency response and incident management activities.

Infection Control & Environmental Services

  • Serve as a member of the Infection Control Team.
  • Support environmental cleaning and sanitation protocols.
  • Monitor inventory and availability of facility and cleaning supplies.
  • Assist in maintaining safe and healthy environments for clients, staff, and visitors.

Leadership & Administration

  • Supervise Facilities Specialists and Custodial staff.
  • Coordinate and monitor contractor and vendor services.
  • Manage facilities budgets, purchasing, and maintenance records.
  • Maintain the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and work order tracking processes.
  • Provide regular reports on maintenance activities, facility needs, and operational priorities.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between sites.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of facilities maintenance, building operations, or property management experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and life safety systems.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and maintenance projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems.

Preferred

  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, residential, or nonprofit settings.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and regulatory compliance.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds with appropriate equipment.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, bending, reaching, and operating tools.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel between multiple facility locations as needed.

  • Compensation: $85,000 annual salary

Our services:

Residential Recovery: Casa Esperanza's Men’s Program serves 29 adult men and Latinas y Niños serves 20 adult women and can also house up to 12 of children age ten or younger so clients in recovery may maintain or regain custody while still in treatment. Residential services usually last six to twelve months and offer evidence-based treatment methodologies as well as assisting clients with setting long-term goals for maintaining their recovery as they transition to independent living.

Structured Outpatient Addictions Program (SOAP): Familias Unidas Outpatient Services is a licensed, CARF-accredited clinic that provides client-centered, integrated services to support the complex, long-term needs of people with co-occurring disorders. Familias is co-located with primary care services and is the only Spanish-language SOAP in Greater Boston.

Supportive Housing: Nueva Vida provides15 single-occupancy units, Dunmore Place & 300 Eustis Street provides eight family units, and Nueva Esperanza provides 14 individual studio units for a total of 37 units of permanent safe, sober housing for individuals and families, with on-site support for maintaining recovery and building independent living skills.

Clinical Stabilization: Conexiones is a structured 24-hour inpatient clinical stabilization program for individuals early in their recovery which includes nursing care, individual and group therapy, psycho-educational groups, case management, health education, and aftercare planning.
