Job Description

The Director of Events leads the strategic planning, development, and execution of all MorseLife Foundation fundraising events, donor cultivation activities, sponsorship initiatives, and community engagement programs. In partnership with Foundation leadership, development, marketing, and executive teams, this role drives donor engagement, enhances stewardship efforts, and supports fundraising goals through mission-driven events and experiences. The Director of Events oversees event strategy, budgets, logistics, vendor and sponsor relationships, and performance outcomes to maximize philanthropic impact and organizational visibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the planning, coordination, and execution of all MorseLife Foundation fundraising events, donor cultivation events, sponsorship activations, and special community engagement programs.
  • Partner and work in close coordination with Foundation leadership to manage event committees, develop and promote donor recognition programs, and advance donor cultivation events, while collaborating with development staff, marketing, and executive leadership to ensure all events support donor engagement, stewardship, and revenue growth initiatives.
  • Ensure mission-driven language and the authentic voices of MorseLife Health System residents, clients, patients, beneficiaries, and families are reflected and integrated across all donor event activities, print collateral, and program materials.
  • Develop annual event plans, timelines, budgets, and performance goals that align with Foundation fundraising objectives and organizational priorities.
  • Manage all event logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, contracts, catering, entertainment, audiovisual services, transportation, décor, registration, and on-site operations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with sponsors, donors, vendors, volunteers, community partners, and event committees to maximize event success and fundraising outcomes.
  • Develop sponsorship opportunities, assist with the visioning and execution of donor recognition programs, and help build attendee engagement strategies to increase event participation and philanthropic support.
  • Oversee event budgets, monitor expenses, negotiate vendor agreements, and ensure events are executed in a fiscally responsible and thoughtful manner.
  • Analyze event performance metrics, attendance trends, sponsorship revenue, donor participation, and post-event feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to develop and implement event marketing, promotional, and communication strategies.
  • Lead and supervise event staff, volunteers, and temporary personnel; provide coaching, training, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety requirements, and risk management standards during all event activities.
  • Prepare event reports, forecasts, and presentations for Foundation leadership and executive management.
  • Represent MorseLife Health System at community events, networking functions, donor meetings, and professional organizations.
  • Remain current on industry trends, fundraising best practices, and innovative event strategies to enhance organizational visibility and donor engagement.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, business administration, hospitality, event management, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, event management, volunteer coordination, donor relations, nonprofit programming, or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with the ability to effectively utilize business software and databases.
  • Experience with donor management and fundraising software is preferred.
