About this role:

The Environmental Services Director is responsible for the care and cleaning of all aspects of the physical plant; controlling the quality and timeliness of all work originating in the laundry; hiring, training and supervising all housekeeping and laundry personnel, procuring of supplies, chemicals and equipment, assisting with budget preparation, and operating within budgetary guidelines.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead, coach, and develop housekeeping and laundry team members.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate departmental staff.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout resident apartments, common areas, offices, and support spaces.
  • Develop and monitor cleaning schedules, quality assurance inspections, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, including infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Manage departmental budgets, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
  • Oversee laundry operations to ensure timely, high-quality service.
  • Coordinate room turnovers, deep cleaning projects, and special events.
  • Partner with nursing, dining, maintenance, and administration to support resident satisfaction.
  • Conduct routine environmental rounds and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Promote a culture focused on resident dignity, hospitality, and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of progressive leadership experience in environmental services, housekeeping, hospitality, healthcare, or senior living.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental services operations, infection prevention, OSHA standards, and safety practices.
  • Experience managing budgets, staffing, and supply inventories.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling or work order software preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including occasional weekends or holidays.
  • Experience in senior living, skilled nursing, healthcare, or hospitality.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and regulatory survey preparation.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
