
The Human Resources team seeks a dynamic and innovative Director of Employee Relations and Development. The role reports to the Vice President and CHRO of Human Resources and provides leadership to the talent management team, as well as learning and development, coaching, performance assessment, workforce retention, and engagement, in consultation with members of the CalArts Community. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide the vision and strategy supporting a welcoming and inclusive culture by applying customized sourcing and recruiting strategies to searches and creating a culture of continuous professional development, learning, and enrichment opportunities that enhance the evolving workplace.
Provide guidance and consultation to staff on workplace and labor relations and serve as an architect and steward in cultivating positive workplace relationships to enhance retention and increase employee engagement.
Supervise the talent management team responsible for an innovative process, including sourcing, recruitment, and onboarding strategies.
Partner with internal and external constituents to design instructional materials, facilitate and present workshops, and engage with subject matter experts to deliver high-quality learning and development opportunities.
Assess, design, implement, and evaluate programs that foster learning, professional development, and career pathways for staff and emerging leaders.
Design and implement creative communications plans with the Communications team that articulate, promote, and inform employees of the Institute’s learning and development philosophy, guidelines, programs, and initiatives.
Evaluate existing programs utilizing relevant assessment data and provide recommendations to the VP/CHRO on program updates, redesign, or new program offerings.
Consult, recommend, and implement employee engagement techniques, and use surveys and other data to analyze individual and group behavior, e.g., 360 assessments, stay interviews, and climate/culture surveys.
Provide formal and informal coaching for staff and faculty at all levels of the organization to expand their leadership competencies and skills.
Serve as an internal consultant to facilitate team building, resolving work group conflict, and changes in group norms, values, and culture.
Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Five years of organizational development and effectiveness expertise, including prior supervisory experience.
Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse staff, faculty, and other constituencies.
Experience in workplace relations and engagement, talent acquisition and performance management, and advising clients based on best practices.
Demonstrated ability and confidence in providing coaching, conflict resolution, and maintaining confidentiality.
Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills; the ability to facilitate sessions for various size groups and a diverse population of learners, in-person and virtually.
Demonstrated experience designing instruction using best practices in various training courses and activities.
Understand theories and models used to assess, design, and implement learning and related organizational effectiveness programs and initiatives.
Experience with workforce data analysis and planning and recruitment and retention strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified in assessments such as Certified Coaching, Facilitator, FranklinCovey, and Crucial Learning (Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability)Myers-Briggs, etc. Gallup Strengths, Gallup Q12 Facilitator, 360 Assessments, MBTI
HR Certifications (CPLP, SPHR, SHRM) preferred
Skills and experience in project/program management.

Salary
$125,800 - $132,000 a year
