The Director of Emergency Services provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for a large, high-volume Emergency Department within a Level I Trauma Center. This leader is responsible for departmental operations, staffing, financial performance, quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, patient experience, and service-line growth.
The Director will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and executive stakeholders.

- 926-bed acute care hospital
- Level I Trauma Center
- Approximately 350 Emergency Department visits per day
- 100 Emergency Department beds
- Approximately 200 FTEs
- 4 direct-report managers

Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive oversight of Emergency Department operations.
- Ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centered care.
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and clinical standards.
- Optimize patient throughput, staffing, productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Maintain regulatory and accreditation compliance.
- Champion patient experience and satisfaction initiatives.
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain nursing leaders and staff.
- Partner with physicians and executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives.
- Manage departmental budgets, labor, productivity, supplies, and capital resources.
- Monitor operational and clinical performance using measurable KPIs.
- Drive continuous improvement across quality, safety, throughput, and service outcomes.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable state.
- Minimum of 5 years of Emergency Room RN experience in an inpatient acute-care hospital setting.
- Minimum of 3 years of trauma nursing leadership experience.
- At least 3–5 years of qualifying Director-level or equivalent Emergency Department leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Leadership experience within a Level I or Level II Trauma Center.
- Experience leading a large, high-volume Emergency Department comparable in size and complexity.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of regulatory standards governing emergency services.
- Demonstrated success leading quality, safety, throughput, operational, or patient-experience improvement initiatives.
- Stable employment history.

- Experience managing large teams and multiple direct-report leaders.
- Experience managing departmental budgets, productivity, staffing, and operational performance.
