
Director of Emergency Services (ED)
We are seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services (ED) to lead operations in a high-volume, Level I Trauma emergency department. With over 25 main ED beds, rapid care spaces, a busy free-standing ED averaging 100+ daily visits, and another location under development, this role provides the opportunity to oversee one of the busiest emergency care networks in the region. This is a high-impact leadership position offering competitive pay, annual incentives, and relocation assistance in Kansas City, MO.
Provide strategic and operational leadership for emergency services across main and free-standing EDs.
Oversee ~115 FTEs with direct accountability for staffing, scheduling, and labor management.
Ensure patient-centered, evidence-based care and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and patient throughput.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, and administrators to optimize service delivery.
Monitor and manage departmental budgets, resources, and performance metrics.
Foster a culture of accountability, staff engagement, and service excellence.
Required
2+ years of recent acute care Director-level ED leadership (may consider strong managers running day-to-day operations at Director level)
Proven track record of delivering strong ED metrics and performance outcomes
Bachelor’s degree required (Nursing strongly preferred)
Active RN license (Missouri or Compact state)
Preferred
Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field
National certification (CEN, CCRN, or equivalent)
Salary: $135,000 – $180,000/year (commensurate with experience)
Annual performance bonus: 17.5% – 26.25% of salary
