About the Role

We’re looking for a Director of Electrical & Software Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team of 10 engineers and technicians. You’ll drive our new product development roadmap, strengthen engineering processes, and ensure we deliver high-quality, reliable, next‑generation oceanographic instruments.

This role is perfect for a leader who thrives at the intersection of modern electronics, IoT-enabled systems, embedded technologies, and high-performing teams

🔧 What You’ll Do

Lead & Develop Teams
• Mentor and grow electrical, software, and compliance engineers
• Build a high-performing, collaborative engineering organization
• Drive clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing)

Deliver New Product Development
• Own execution of the product development roadmap
• Lead milestone planning, design reviews, risk mitigation, and resource allocation
• Partner closely with Product, Manufacturing, and cross-functional teams
• Ensure products meet schedule, cost, and performance targets

Shape Technology Strategy
• Guide development of modern electronic instrumentation
• Influence next-gen architecture: AI, wireless comms, low-power systems, IoT connectivity
• Champion platforming, cost optimization, and design-for-manufacturability
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends

🎓 What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (advanced degree preferred).
• 10+ years developing electronic products or systems
• 5+ years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Proven success delivering NPD programs from concept to launch
• Experience with connected/IoT devices, AI, embedded systems, wireless technologies, and low-power electronics.
• Strong communication and leadership skills in a matrixed environment.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $170,000.00 - $215,000.00 USD per year.
