Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center, located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area. The organization consists of a standalone fifty-five (55) )-bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty-four (134) beds. The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.

OF POSITION

The Director of Electronic Health Record Systems (EHRS) & Data Analytics leads the Agency’s strategy, implementation, and management of electronic health record systems and data analytics strategies to improve clinical quality, operational efficiency, and better patient outcomes. This position manages data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance program performance, collaborating with all departments to streamline workflows and maximize EHR effectiveness. The Director of EHRS & Data Analytics collaborates with clinical programs, Finance, Billing, Quality Improvement, Health Information Management, and Information Technology teams to ensure EHRS and data analytics align with organizational goals. This position requires strong leadership, deep understanding of healthcare data, technical skills, and expertise in regulations like HIPAA, focusing on improving care through data-driven decisions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee the vision for the EHRS to meet organizational goals.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the organization with external vendors (e.g., Netsmart, Qualifacts).
  • Direct administration, maintenance, and upgrades of EHR software and infrastructure.
  • Supervise staff responsible for EHRS, data analytics, reporting, and informatics.
  • Work with agency leadership to direct training for service staff, making sure EHR system implementation meets both clinical and business needs.
  • Develop data strategies, set goals, and oversee data governance.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and accessibility patient health records.
  • Guide the rollout and enhancement of EHR features and analytics tools.
  • Oversee data analysis to identify trends, build reports, and create dashboards for performance improvement.
  • Oversee collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of program performance metrics, as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational workflows to enhance efficiency and integration across departments in collaboration with Quality Improvement, Health Information Management, Billing, and clinical leadership.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to improve workflows, EHR utilization, and data-driven care delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identify operational risks, and recommend solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation (e.g., HIPAA, Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Cal/OSHA, CMS) and state/federal laws.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Qualifications

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, information technology, public health, computer science, information systems, or related field.

Desired Education:

  • Master’s degree in health informatics , information technology, public health, computer science, information systems, or related field.
  • Data analytics and/or clinical informatics certification

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of behavioral health electronic health record system (Netsmart myAvatar preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis or related field.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems, data analytics tools, and programming language.

Desired

Experience:

  • Experience with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health service delivery and billing.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Community Care Licensing (CCL) background clearance.
  • Valid California Driver’s license.
  • TB clearance.
  • Driving record acceptable for coverage by Gateways insurance carrier.
