Job Category: ManagementThe Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) is seeking a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as its next Director of Educational Services. This critical leadership role shapes the future of our educational service agency by fostering a culture of innovation and guiding strategic growth through the development of transformative programs, services, and partnerships. This leader will prioritize relationships, empower and develop staff, and maintain a clear focus on outcomes and impact for students, educators, and educational partners.
The CAIU is a trusted partner in Pennsylvania’s K–12 public education system, proudly supporting schools across Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and Northern York counties, including public school districts, career and technical centers, charter, cyber, and non-public schools. We provide cost-effective programs and services to 24 member school districts, two area vocational-technical schools, and more than 50 non-public schools, impacting over 78,000 students and 9,000 teachers annually.
They will administer; supervise; and lead the CAIU's Educational Services Team, including curriculum, professional development, Training and Consultation (TAC) services, school improvement services, strategic planning services,  Capital Area Online Learning Association (CAOLA), program and grant evaluation services, special projects, instructional technology,  Federal Programs and other PDE-related initiatives and services, and other programs assigned to Education Services.
Salary: This Cabinet position follows the Act 93 Cabinet Leadership Agreement, and would be placed at Grade 20 of the salary structure
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 260 days/year
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Identify emerging trends and develop responsive, forward-thinking programs and services.
2. Collaborate with leaders across the organization and cultivate external partnerships that enhance educational services and new opportunities.
3. Supervises, evaluates, and provides leadership to Program Supervisors, TAC Supervisor, Online Learning Supervisor, Special Projects Supervisor.
4. Participates in policy development, decision making, and problem-solving issues at the cabinet and administrative levels.
5. Serves as an advisor to the Executive Director in matters pertaining to curriculum, assessment, school improvement, strategic planning, and student achievement.
6. Organizes consortia appropriate for student achievement as needed to address district/CAIU needs.
7. Represents the CAIU on various state and local committees as appropriate.
8. Oversees the planning, preparation, and facilitation of monthly Curriculum Advisory Council (CAC) meetings.
9. Coordinates and administers educational initiatives that may come from state, federal, and local sources.
10. Studies state and federal legislation, projects, and programs for opportunities for educational grants and/or entitlements relevant to the needs of the CAIU and its component school districts.
11. Provides oversight to CAOLA,  TAC service, professional development, special projects, and Federal Programs.
12. Participates in and supports the Strategic Planning and Comprehensive Planning processes.
13. Coordinates CAIU support and professional learning to districts and charter schools in the area of curriculum, instruction, assessment, school improvement, professional development, and planning.
14. Coordinates and or provides support, as necessary, to departments internal to the CAIU in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
15. Provides direct support to the Superintendents Advisory Council and Leadership Conference Planning in support of an articulation of learning / learning concepts to the Curriculum Advisory Council and the regional Principals Network.
16. Coordinates and facilitates the Principals Network.
17. Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by Executive Director or his/her designee.

Qualifications
1. Masters degree required.
2. PA Administrative certification as a supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) of K-12 Principal.
3. Expertise, knowledge, and demonstrated experience in:
a. Curriculum theory and practice
b. Instructional practices
c. Student Assessment
d. Planning and implementing system programs.
4. Must be highly organized; possess good communication skills; be highly confidential at all time; act as a team player; be flexible to work on multiple tasks; pay attention to detail; be able to learn new skills and deal with constant change
5. Ability to communicate and facilitate liaison between the Intermediate Unit and the Pennsylvania Department of Education, as well as between and among component districts.
6. Proficiency with a variety of technology tools.

The Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) is one of 29 educational services agencies located throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Created in 1971 by an Act of PA legislature, IUs are intended to support and provide services to the schools and districts in the IU’s territory or “footprint.” The CAIU serves Cumberland, Dauphin, Perry, and northern York counties, which includes Harrisburg; hence the name “Capital Area.”

Located in Enola with classrooms and program locations throughout the region, the CAIU’s mission to achieve educational excellence with families, schools and communities through leadership, partnership and innovation.
