Reporting to the Executive Director, the incumbent is responsible for strategic planning, annual work planning, policy direction, management, administration, and delivery of TH Government education programs and Citizen training supports. The incumbent oversees the Department’s core program areas, including early learning and childcare through Tr’inke Zho and Aboriginal Head Start, Kindergarten to Grade 12 student supports, cultural programming at Robert Service School and Yukon University, post-secondary education, pre-employment training and individual employment-readiness supports for TH Citizens. The incumbent leads the TH Government’s education-related intergovernmental work, including negotiations and the implementation of initiatives, policies and protocols related to the implementation of section 17.7 of the Self-Government Agreement (SGA) and the 17.7 Co-Governing Agreement. The incumbent serves as the TH Government’s representative on the Education Oversight Committee
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.
