A Brief Overview
The Director of Donor Engagement & Pipeline Development provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Foundation's annual giving, stewardship, events, volunteer engagement, donor pipeline development, and marketing alignment to support philanthropy. This role is responsible for building a sustainable pipeline of future major gift donors to support long-term philanthropic growth for the children's hospital. Reporting to the Children's Foundation executive leader, the Director serves as a key member of the leadership team and plays a critical role in strengthening donor engagement, expanding the base of support, and advancing the organization's mission through integrated fundraising and marketing strategies.

Essential Functions

  • Pipeline Development & Growth: Build and strengthen the pipeline of future major gift donors by identifying, cultivating, and advancing prospects. Partner closely with major gift officers to ensure a seamless donor journey from annual giving to major giving. Utilize data and segmentation strategies to identify high-potential donors and create targeted engagement plans. Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies to deepen relationships and increase long-term giving potential.
  • Marketing & Donor Engagement: Provide strategic oversight and direction for marketing efforts to ensure alignment with donor engagement, annual giving, and pipeline development goals. Partner closely with marketing and communications teams to develop integrated campaigns that drive awareness, acquisition, and donor retention. Ensure messaging, storytelling, and brand positioning effectively support philanthropic priorities and resonate with target audiences. Evaluate marketing performance and campaign effectiveness in partnership with analytics teams to continuously refine strategies and improve return on investment
  • Annual Giving and Events: Oversight of annual giving initiatives, including direct mail, digital campaigns, employee giving, events, and recurring giving programs. Develop integrated, multi-channel approaches to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors. Increase overall donor participation, engagement, and annual revenue. Oversee planning, timelines, and performance tracking for all annual giving activities
  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop annual giving and support staff, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment. Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance metrics aligned with Foundation priorities. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Donor Stewardship: Oversee the execution of donor stewardship to ensure meaningful, consistent engagement across all giving levels. Partner with philanthropy and marketing teams to design stewardship communications, recognition programs, and impact reporting that strengthen donor relationships. Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgement processes are in place to enhance donor satisfaction and retention. Monitor stewardship effectiveness and continuously refine approaches to increase donor loyalty and lifetime value
  • Performance Management & Analytics: Use data and analytics to track performance, measure outcomes, and evaluate program effectiveness. Continuously refine strategies based on insights to maximize revenue and donor engagement. Partner with advancement services and analytics teams to ensure data integrity and actionable reporting.
  • Children's Miracle Network (CMN) Oversight: Provide oversight and operational support for Children’s Miracle Network programs, partnerships, and sponsorships to drive revenue growth and ensure alignment with annual giving and pipeline development priorities. Contribute to goal setting, budgeting, and performance tracking for CMN initiatives while partnering with internal teams and external sponsors to support successful execution and strengthen donor relationships.
  • Gift Shop Oversight: Provide oversight of hospital gift shop operations to ensure alignment with the Foundation’s mission. Enhance the customer and visitor experience while optimizing revenue generation. Partner with operational staff to improve efficiency, merchandising, and financial performance.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or related field Required and
  • Master's Degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or related field Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 7 years years of progressive experience in fundraising, annual giving, or development, with proven success leading annual giving programs, building donor pipelines, managing and developing high performing teams Required and
  • Experience in a healthcare or nonprofit foundation environment Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies and initiatives.
