POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises and supports Diverse Learners staff to ensure effective delivery of services and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, requirements for English learners, and University View Academy (UVA) policies and procedures. Works collaboratively to ensure all programs and services are implemented in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, guidance, and best practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides strategic leadership, oversight, and continuous improvement of all programs and services supporting diverse learners, including special education, Section 504, English learner support, and related support services.
- Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates special education programs and instructional supports to ensure student achievement, equitable access, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Serves as the primary liaison between University View Academy (UVA) and the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) regarding matters related to diverse learners, including reporting, audits, monitoring, compliance reviews, and corrective action plans.
- Oversees the identification, support, compliance, and instructional programming for English Learners (EL), including coordination of language services, progress monitoring, family communication, accommodations, and adherence to federal and state requirements for multilingual learners.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures related to special education, including IDEA, Section 504, ADA, English learner support, and state accountability requirements.
- Oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), evaluation processes, accommodations, modifications, and related services for eligible students.
- Supervises, supports, evaluates, and develops special education departmental staff to ensure high-quality instructional practices and legal compliance.
- Leads recruitment, onboarding, training, mentoring, and retention initiatives for diverse learners, staff, and service providers.
- Coordinates and facilitates professional development for faculty, staff, and administrators related to special education best practices, inclusive instructional strategies, compliance requirements, behavioral supports, and differentiated instruction.
- Collaborates with school leaders, general education staff, families, related service providers, and community agencies to support student success and inclusive educational opportunities.
- Oversees data collection, progress monitoring, reporting, and analysis related to student achievement, compliance indicators, service delivery, and program effectiveness.
- Monitors timelines and compliance requirements related to evaluations, reevaluations, IEP meetings, documentation, accommodations, and state reporting.
- Assists in the development and management of departmental budgets, staffing allocations, contracts, and instructional resources for diverse learners' programs and services.
- Manages and assigns completion of annual evaluations for central office staff within the Department of Diverse Learners.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and sensitive information in accordance with FERPA and applicable regulations.
- Travels as needed to support statewide mandated test administration, attend professional meetings, conduct site visits, and participate in student-sponsored events and activities.

- Minimum of seven years of related professional work experience as an educational leader in online learning environments and non-traditional or traditional public schools
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree +30
- State and Administrator Certification
- 5 + years of experience as an educational leader
- 4 + years in online learning environments
- 3 + years of charter or traditional school system
